WTF!!! Are they kidding??? How'd I miss this?

^ I think that's been discussed before, that it can't be done due to the way TNG was filmed. Maybe if you do a search here you can find that thread. I don't remember the technical reasons (otherwise i'd tell you), but it sounded like blu-ray won't be happening when it comes to TNG.

As long as the original film elements have been safely stored somewhere, it is possible to do, but it will be really, really, really, really, really expensive and time consuming to do.

In the threads that have discussed this before, the best consensus we come to is that maybe we'll get "best of" sets re-done for Bluray (like Best of Both Worlds, etc).

Bootlegs or not, it doesn't matter anymore. "Legit" stuff is just as defective these days - ever since they started printing and packaging them in third world countries. I still remember that abysmal third season Star Trek set: it came in cracked trays that held together with a rubber band.

Im holding out for Bluray versions with all new effects like TOS-R.

Your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren might be able to lay them over your grave.

Don't be so sure...

All three seasons of the originalStar Trek are now available in HD, but what about TNG? In a response to a question about TNG on Blu-ray, CBS Consumer Products VP John Van Citters told the crowd in Las Vegas that releasing Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray was much more "problematic" than the original Star Trek, due to how the TNG original effects shots were composited, and how that makes the transfer to HD "incredibly difficult without making them look awful." However, he also said that there is "a lot of conversations going on" within CBS on how to convert TNG to HD, and Van Citters expressed optimism noting "It is being worked on and I expect it will happen, it is just a technical challenge."

Following his talk, I confirmed with Van Citters that even though he is optimistic that the challenges will be met, as of now there is no specific plan or budget for the project within CBS. So this is still something that is a long-term project.

We got ours from Deepdiscount.com. We've bought from them for years and never had a problem.

Have you noticed their prices & selection aren't what they used to be?

Indeed. DeepDiscount really isn't very cheap anymore. I pay less when I go to Best Buy!

Well, we've cut way back on DVD buying anyways (combination of Netflix and there just not being that many things we want to buy) but it's probably a wash between the two for us. I've noticed the prices at Best Buy have also gone up, and we really only go nuts at DeepDiscount anymore when they have their big sale.

We have had a lot of luck with Amazon lately though.

Yeah, it just depends on what you're looking for. I usually only buy stuff when it's on sale. On average, I don't spend more than $10 for a new Blu-Ray movie.
