Hey Everyone,

I'm currently writing my MA dissertation titled "Cannibalise or Commercialise? - Fanfiction and the Publishing Industry" and I'm looking for fans from all fandoms who write and/or read fanfiction to participate in my survey.
Your views on the topic would be immensely helpful for my research!!!
Here's the link to the survey questions for fanfiction authors:

and this is for those of you who read, but not write fanfiction:

Many, many thanks for your time!
Helen

I also did the author survey. It would be interesting, if you'd be willing, to see a summary of your paper someday on the forum!

Filled it in.

I'm in Oxford too--interesting to know that there are other people in town thinking and writing about these issues. My thesis is on a topic far more mundane!

Maybe you could have done a thesis on Star Trek's alien races being thinly-veiled allegories to ancient and modern Earth cultures. Although it might have been done before.

Wow, that was more comprehensive than I'd anticipated. Well, there's my info :)

God, I sure hope you're not someone working undercover for Viacom's legal department! ;) Just kidding.

That would have been media studies, not history.

Ok, my bad. I guess it's kind of a history/media mix since you would also be looking at Feudal Japan (Klingons), the Roman Empire (Romulans) and the long-dead Mayan culture (aspects of Andorian culture).

(Surfaces from beneath a pile of documents in the National Archives at Kew)

Did somebody mention history, and the UK?

Hmm...I must have imagined it...

(Submerges once again)
