Writing and play acting?

When you write a story, do you also act it? Like playing out the dialoges loudly or play acting a situation to get a better grip of the emotions involved?

All the time.

In fact, I often spend WAY too much time in the bathroom, in front of the mirror, acting out the scened to myself, trying my best to emulate the characters, and their voices.

I do it whenever I get a chance.

I tend to try and keep it in my head as much as possible, but when I know I'm alone and/or in my bedroom, I have no qualms about "Contact Starfleet Command, Lieutenant".

Sometimes to get an idea for the flow of an action scene. But for the most part I confine my thoughts to my notebook and/or in my head.

Does "roleplay" count? A friend of mine will often "act out" scenes over Yahoo. It's in novel format, but it helps me get an idea of the flow of the scene. Not sure that exactly counts as roleplay, but its the closest thing i can think of.

I thought I was the only one!

Sometimes I can go on and on with a conversation, until I realize I might have to write it down. At that point, I sometimes actually forgot how it all started...

I think acting it out helps in seeing does it really work or not.

My problem is that I get all caught up in the play acting, and I forget where I started or what I was doing.

The fact that I do it before going to sleep doesn't help either.

Only certain lines, just to see if they sound right. My characters are too talky to act out whole dialogues.
