Wrestling (AEW, WWE, etc)

Dave Meltzer has a HUGE AEW / NJPW bias.
He also pulls things out of his arse and reports it like facts, then walks it back when it doesn't turn out to be true.
He's very controversial, so take his words with a mountain of salt.

Him being Scottish (like the other version of Scotland to Drew!) does help the appeal for me and yeah, he could never be a heel with that look!

What are your thoughts on Balor/Punk next week? Can't believe we missed the chance to see them earlier in their career but obviously Balor's move up to the main roster was not long after Punk left
Personally, I want Balor to win, it would be a "Surprise Win Out of No-Where" and Balor has been taking TOO many losses this year.
I know Balor wants to be "The Top Guy", but I'm afraid that HHH will book him to lose to CM Punk and just be another notch on CM Punk's belt.

Punk doesn't need it, Punk is a certified HoF-er. He can afford the loss.

Balor needs it to revive his career.
Balor at this point with his Win/Loss record is only one tier above "The Miz".

I've got a few mates in a wrestling Whatsapp chat and in the run up to SNME - The Last Time Is Now one of them was posting reports from online claiming PWI had confirmed Gunther was injured

My mate posted in good faith but a brief Google showed no sign PWI had ever said such a thing

Unfortunately "Dirt Sheets" is too generous a term for wrestling social media these days - as with football transfers you just post as many different things as possible, caveat all with "reports say" or "someone close to them has suggested" and by posting so much volume you eventually get enough right to become an "expert"

I'll believe it once it has happened & been confirmed by official sources.

Other wise, it's the usual rumor mill.

If Finn can Winn, then I would be "Ecstatic".

Having both Finn & Drew on top as World Champions would be Great IMO.

Gaelic Pride and 2x Gaelic Bro's on Top of the WWE food chain.

Agreed - and my natural cynicism means whenever I see anything reported these days I can't not go searching for supporting sources.

Do you get to go to live shows much?

They're too expensive, have you seen the ticket prices for WWE, especially PPV's?
Front Row seats are $##,### (5 Figures) at WM.
Nose Bleed back of the Arena are $### (3 Figures).
That isn't worth the $$$ IMO.

And best view is at home anyways watching on your TV.

WM Ticket Prices were $30,000 per seat for Last Years WM.
And TKO plans on jacking them up as well over time.
No sign of lowering them.

Christ alive! That is ridiculous

I've managed on or two over here but they max out for "mid tier" seats in the mid £100-200 when I've been which is stomachable

I'd quite like to come over to the US for a mania week but just hit up the indie stuff that happens around it then find an overpriced sports bar to drink flat beer while watching it!

AEW is the only Big Wrestling company that seems to price things in line for families.

TKO has gone Money Grubbing Crazy since buying WWE.

If you want to vote with your wallets, go watch AEW content as well.

Thing for me with AEW is there every other match seems to be a death match style blood and gore job - although I loved what Christian was doing for a while

Wrestling for me is my "hungover easy watching" tv so the WWE style works for me on that front but I do get the appeal of AEW for sure

AEW is more of a variety show, so Death Match & Extreme Matches might show up more often because some of the Wrestlers over there like that style alot.

::COUGH::
Jon Moxley
Darby Allin

True - quite a few call backs to British WOS wrestling too (although the Toni/Saraya bit really didn't work)

Saraya has been retired for too long.
So when she came back, the Ring Rust REALLY showed.

But now she's trying to do one more run in WWE.
So who knows what kind of "Ring Shape" she'll be in by that time, if it happens.

HHH needs to approve her return, so it's a "Wait & See".

If AJ Lee can come back after so long and work like she did (obviously with a lot of help from the others in the match) I have no doubt Saraya can do it

I believe in Saraya FKA (WWE Paige).
The question is does WWE trust her Health Status given her known neck issues.

There's also Paige needing to pass WWE Medical examines.

So Becky Lynch was on the Athena bridge in Starfleet Academy's first episode. I was like, "is that..?" and then she gave a damage report and I was like, yes it is:lol:

I LOVE Becky's Irish Accent, I wish she made it thicker & more Heavily Irish.
She's getting too Americanized in her accent as of these past few years, needs more Irish Gaelic Emphasis.

Finn doesn't do much media appearances, but this is his most recent one which appeared this past week.

It's a great BtS interview.
