Wrath of Khan to be shown in theaters this September

The showings are 2 pm and 7 pm no matter what city you live in, which suggests these will be staggered satellite broadcasts for each time zone. That unfortunately is how Fathom handles most of their movie screenings. Very, very rarely do they deliver high-quality 2K or 4K DCPs on hard drives to the theaters. Their events are usually shown on the advertising projector, not the primary cinema projector. I would hold off on buying tickets until it is 100% confirmed that it is a DCP (digital cinema print).
Going just to see the film in a theater again. I saw it in 2012 in a small NYC theater which actually cracked out a cruddy, beat to hell 35mm print of the original cut. HEAVEN! This will be fun, too. I saw the Roger Moore 007 double feature a few months ago and it was glorious. I love this sort of thing.

Although Fathom Events is not mentioned (wonder why?), these do appear to be the Fathom screenings. Note they do say "DCP", but they also say "113 min".
My two cents: I believe the DCP of the theatrical cut that screens fairly regularly is 2K (and looks quite good -- much better than surviving 35mm and 70mm prints that are also circulating); although the film was remastered in 4K I don't think a new DCP was created. I also don't think any DCP exists of the "Director's Cut"; regardless of what the Arclight site says this will likely be a subpar Dish Network broadcast as previously noted. Although I have been tempted I do not attend any Fathom screenings for this reason. It may be a great way to gather with other fans, but don't go for the presentation quality.

It looks like it IS a Fathom event, according to the Arclight's facebook page, so I'm not sure whether your suspicion is right that it'll be a satellite broadcast or that maybe the DCP listing is indeed accurate. I just messaged them on facebook to find out the presentation format and the running time. Hopefully I'll have better luck with them than I've gotten with Fathom.

Just got back from the Burbank 16 AMC Theaters to see "IT" and peeked into the 2:00pm show of Star Trek II to check the quality and it was definitely a 2K or 4K DCP being shown on the cinema projector. I'll be coming back at 7:00 to see the movie. Haven't seen this projected for seven years or so. And that was a vintage 70mm print from 1982 that had faded to magenta. This digital screening looked far superior. Pumped to see this!
I just got home from seeing it. First time I've seen it on the big screen since first release. More people than I expected there (this is Burlington, VT), and people seemed to have a lot of fun watching it (no crazy shenanigans though, which I'm happy about). I really enjoyed seeing the E refit on the big screen again!
It was so great to see TWOK on the big screen again. A full house, but nice and quiet. I prefer the theatrical cut, but it's one of the classic films, so I'll see any version in the theater. But boy, those scenes were smartly cut, they add practically nothing (except for Doohan's chance to do some real acting). The picture and sound were fantastic, the interview with Shatner was funny fluff, and it was great to stay to the end of the fina credits without spending 20 minutes reading credits. The old days.
It just struck me that a) like 80% of the people in the opening credits are gone and b) I - REALLY - miss James Horner.

It was great seeing it with a friend who had never seen it before. Too bad about the spoilers! I'll always remember it fondly because it was the first film that I ever saw with just my Dad. Rocky III, too. Over The Top... less memorable (Stallone arm wrestling movie).
