Wrath of Kahn vs first contact:which is better?

"You mean, he never told you the tale. To amuse your captain, no? Never told you how the Enterprise picked up the Botany Bay lost in space from the year 1996..."

"...on Earth, 200 years ago, I was a prince with power over millions."

My memory kind of created an abridged version, but that's the dialogue. And without knowing the backstory from "The Space Seed," I found this whole thing really confusing when I was younger.

I mostly think Khan is just a weird villain. I love the character stuff in TWOK and theme of getting old. Then again, I think the character work in TFF is the best of any of the films, but that doesn't mean I think that movie is all that good.

I think I actually like them both about the same. They rock for different reasons, and I see no reason to compare them to see which is better.

twok is quite good considering its budget of 100 bucks or so, and the cheesy fx, and i'm sure it has something to say to the people who are willing to listen. yes, it's rich in tragedy and human emotions, for me though, only insurrection and XI caused more pain than twok. watched it only once, and barely remember it.

I watched it again last night on bluray. It's better than I first remembered. As others have said, it is very different than First Contact and hard to compare.

I have to agree with barnaclelapse. I enjoy both movies immensely, and cannot choose between them.
