Wraith of Khan Trailer

Yeah, Lucas actually got the terminology for Star Wars from obscure early 20th century sci-fi writing and NOT from the most popular sci-fi show of all time up to that point.

Also:
The term "cloaking device" was first coined by Star Trek writer D.C. Fontana...
Cloaking devices have also been used in many other science-fiction settings, including Doctor Who, Star Wars, Stargate and Predator.

The cloak as a device to make you invisible goes back way, way, way more than that. Nibelungen Saga, Lord of the Rings come to mind immediately.

In sci-fi its hard to be original, you can use science fiction to predict trends in society, future technological developments, and even some events in history, but when it comes to fiction sci-fi has been explored and re-explored numerous times.

I just know you're smarter than that.

That's right, the term was coined by Trek, but they didn't invent making things invisible... Batman in the 50's had invisble paint and cloaked the Batmobile once, just as one example.

Maybe it's getting late, but, why are we arguing here? Science fiction builds upon itself. Always has, always will. We all know that, right????? I mean we've read science fiction, too, not just watched it on TV.
