Poll Would you trade your real life to live in the ST Universe?

I would in a heartbeat. Besides for the threat of alien invasion, and the absence of whales :(... it's a pretty nearly perfect Universe.... pretty close to utopia.

No. I would not.

I am extremely fond of STAR TREK, as entertainment. But it is a pipe dream - and somebody else's dream, at that. If I could transport myself to another reality, let it be one of my own devising. One much more to my liking, for example: The Ultimate Universe of 2takesfrakes. Now, that's the path to excitement ... and adventure.

Considering 24th century fashion trends?

....I'd have to say no.

What real life?

Well... if I can't live in the universe of the recurring dream I have where I'm the reality-bending Evil Overlord of a post-apocalyptic Earth, I guess the TNG-Era, with its holodecks (in which I could recreate that dream) would do.

Definitely, the closest you can get to a Utopian society

Which is exactly why I wouldn't want to live in it.

Although if I absolutely had to pick one, I'd probably choose to live as a civilian freighter captain in ENT's time frame. That seems as close to 'real life' as I've ever seen Trek get.

Yes, I'd like that for me and my family. But I think I'd prefer the TOS universe of the 23rd century to the TNG universe of the 24th.

I don't see the poll.

There are times when I've wished that Jonathan Frakes hadn't been so damned eager and daring within this beloved franchise. There have been faux pas, like this one. He could've said, "no," he should've said, "no," but he went for it, instead, because ... he's an entertainer. Still ... he did get the girl in this episode, so ... it has its compensations.

Yeah, in a heartbeat. It'd take time to adjust, but come on. People poopooing the idea of living in a Utopia are the deranged product of not living in a Utopia. Hell, if you didn't like anyone of the Federation's thousands or millions of cultures to live in, it'd probably help you start your own.
