Would You Rather?

I thought this would be a fun idea for a thread, and that Misc would be a good spot (though if the mods think it's too game-ish it could be moved to the lounge, I suppose). I think some nice ridiculous discussions could develop.

Inspired by a rousing match of "Would You Rather?" played between my mother and I on the way to the airport last week. The rules are simple: I will post a Would You Rather. You may ask specifics about the terms of the Would You Rather, but you must choose one or the other before posting your own! You are welcome to give the reasons for your choice. The next person to post will answer the most recent would you rather.

Here we go:

Would You Rather be a man by day and a woman at night, or a woman by day and a man at night?

Woman by day, man at night...as long as I'm a hot chick. Women can coast by in the workplace on their looks if they so choose and get lucky, whereas men can come home to a meal and relax all night, if they get lucky with a "traditional" marriage arrangement.

Yeah...that would be the life. :)

^Hmmm...what you say is true of some, but not most women, I'd say. And as for the second part, so long as both parties are happy with the scenario then it does indeed sound splendid, in its boring, unsexy way.

I'd be a woman by day, because I know how to do it well (The clothes! The clothes!), and a man by night because I could sleep through it if I found it too horrible, or I could go out cruising for other hot, young guys.

So, do you have your own wold you rather?

Since he didn't post one, I'll just work from yours.

I'd be a man by day and a woman by night. Why? To go clubbing at night while wearing stylish, designer clothes that don't look like they were made out of garbage bags.

Would you rather skydive from 25,000 feet or fall into a 50 foot deep well?

I would much rather fall into the well. For me to skydive you would have to get me into the airplane and I am not going willingly. :rommie:

And speaking of planes, if your were stranded in the Andes by a plane crash would you eat the dead passengers or your family pet first so you could stay alive?

^Do I have to kill my pet or did he die in the crash?

For the previous one, they both sound horrible to me: I'm afraid of heights. But I like flying, and skydiving is a safe ans structured activity. Also, the murky, dark, wetness that may potentially be concealing mold or decomposition is a lot scarier to me than the fall. Still...shiver.

And speaking of planes, if your were stranded in the Andes by a plane crash would you eat the dead passengers or your family pet first so you could stay alive?

Hmm. Probably the dead passengers. If I have to kill my pet to eat it, that's losing yet another life, but the dead passengers are already meat popsicles, so...

Speaking of eating, would you rather go two weeks without food or without sleep?

Probably the family pet first. Just can't bring myself to cannibalism in any case.

You are a time traveler. Would you rather experience a week in Aushwitz during Germany's Final Solution or a physician in Japan during the atomic bomb strikes?

I'm pretty Aryan looking, so I'd probably fare better at Aushwitz then at the site of a nuclear explosion.

I am thinking you would have to kill the family pet.

I don't know which to choose so...

I would go without sleep.

I would want to be in Japan.

If you knew you had to save one life and only one life which would you save, your mother or a young child you do not know.

I'm the same as you, presuming my cat was dead already, I'd eat him first, but I wouldn't kill him.

I've done 7 days without sleep, I'd rather not try for 14. I'd go without food.

Would you rather be missing one digit on each hand and foot (the pinkie), or have an extra digit on each hand and foot?

Jesus, you guys are brutal.

Both options are pretty horrific as far as time-traveling is concerned. Presuming I'd survive both events, I guess the doctor in Japan. Though I'd be witness to many horrors, at least I'd be there to help people.

As for saving some one, I love my mom, but I'd save the child. She wouldn't forgive me if I let a little child die in her place.

I wouldn't miss my pinkies, they're not required to grasp a controller or flush a toilet

Would you rather have no internet or have no cable TV?

No TV. Easy. I never watch tv anymore - any shows I want to watch I just download :)

Would you rather be waterboarded for two days straight or watch Spock`s Brain in a continuous loop, non-stop for two weeks straight?

Edit: ^Spock's Brain. Water boarding sounds horrible.

Oh that's easy, no cable! Living without TV isn't that big a deal, especially since most of it can be watched online anyway. And PBS is the most viewed channel in my household too. I would be miserable and useless without the internet.

Would you rather be sent 50 years in the past, knowing what you know about the era, to start a brand new life, or 50 years into the future, the complete unknown, to start a brand new life?

I would rather go into the past. That way, I could invest wisely and prepare for the future (er..present?).

Would you rather lose your sight or your hearing?

The next person has to answer all three what-ifs in one:
Would you rather:
1) be waterboarded for two days straight, then be sent to 1959 and be blind, or
2) watch Spocks Brain nonstop for 2 weeks, then be sent to 2059 and be deaf?

;)

That depends. My family pet wouldn't happen to be a cow would it?

I haven't had cable TV in 14 years. I don't even have TV right now since it all went digital.

Whose basement would you rather be tied up for a week in. CoolEddie's or Darkwing Duck's?
