would you rather have had one last GOOD TNG movie?

Nope, I think I have seen enough of TNG and do not long for any more movies with that crew.

I don't thinl Nero's reaction was all that much different from the Kremin captain in the Voyager episode "Year of Hell". Both are unable to accept the death of their people and their wives. Annorax keeps trying to restore the timeline that will allow his wife to exist again and is willing to destroy whole civilisations to do so.

Nero's reaction was completely different from Annorax, the Krenim captain in Year of Hell. Nero's reaction is a mindless revenge trip. A one dimentional baddy. While Annorax is an obsessive but logical attempt to restore the timeline. Annorax is a much more complex and multi-dimentional character than Nero which is a standard baddy (the Star Trek 2009 story is more about the meeting and creation of the TOS crew).

Yes Annorax is very complex and much more interesting than Nero. Nero is just a thug, but he's grown on me.

No way. I'm done with the 24th/25th century - until and unless they come back and really change it up and do something good and different with it again, of course. ;)

Rather than this?

I would have.

It was a decent reboot but I thought the new Spock was lame and the villain's motives were ill conceived (read: a huge, retarded overreaction-- "Oh boo hoo, my sun went nova and SPOCK ITS ALL YOUR FAULT"). Otherwise I had no real problems with it.

One last TNG movie... maybe featuring some characters from DS9 would have made me way happier though.

no, no, and no.

No, not really. I did enjoy TNG and that era of TV/movies, but in retrospect (seeing reruns on WGN, Sci Fi, Spike TV with VOY, etc.), it just seems bland to me now.

When I saw the cover for the Countdown comic, it only hammered it home that I don't really equate that version of Star Trek with being an adventure.

Also, it was tired from constant use. You went from TNG to DS9 to VOY and TNG in the movies with almost constant overlap and it became saturated.

To me, even if you tried a new TNG movie, to make it work for a general audience, the adventure and action aspect would seem so out of place with that crew.

No, they have had their chance. This was certainly not the greatest thing they could have done by a long shot, but enough of the TNG era mob.

I wish TNG got a proper final movie but I still loved the new movie. I kind of wish Countdown had been made into a movie. That would have been a much better finale for TNG and it would have set up the new film very well.

I wouldn't rather have one more TNG movie than what we actually got, but I certainly wouldn't say no to a better send-off for TNG crew.

"Would you rather have had a good TNG movie" is like saying "would you rather have brussel sprouts if they tasted like chocolate ice cream?" That is, probably not entirely impossible but extraordinarily unlikely and not an experiment there's much reason to try.

:guffaw:True.

Well, they had four chances to get it right and they only got it right with First Contact...

Again, that cast had SEVEN seasons of episodes. I don't see any reason to go back to that well...honestly...

I enjoyed TNG, but enough is enough.

A made for TV Titan movie would be cool...but that's the only bone I'm willing to throw to that cast.

Not time yet. Maybe never will be. TNG had a glorious run, but that was another life.

And I'm sorry, but Ron Moore--as good as he was in partnership with Braga--should stay far away from Trek, in my opinion. Not that I think he wants any part of it anyway, so it is win-win.

No. I like the direction the franchise is headed in for now. I enjoyed "Star Trek" very much and hope we see several more movies involving these new characters.

On the TV side, I would prefer CBS focus on animation for a little while as it relates to all things 24th Century. A Saturday morning cartoon type of thing would be good.

No.

They had 4 attempts to get it right (Sorry, but even First Contact was lame, just less lame than the other three)

NO.

I was thinking today how cool it is to have Kirk and Spock again, in new storylines. I never would have thought I'd see it.

TNG got 7 years, TOS got 3. Time to even up.

I agree-I was never too big on TNG films anyway. They just lacked the heart of star trek, in my opinion anyway. I would have preferred that the new film was a true prequel though so that we would have reallt learned about Kirk & Spocks exploits as teens.
