The public is privy to a 100 billion dollar merger.
Mojo broke down the budget, and was a VFX supervisor on the show.

I feel it's informed enough to know those remasters would cost peanuts compared to Section 31, and if they're dealing with imaginary money by saying they're saving 40 million a year cancelling colbert, then they can just pay for the remasters with imaginary money, and keep kicking the can.
It appears they've been doing it for some time anyway.
You're assuming that a remaster is even on their radar. It's not. As you yourself just stated, they are far more interested in spending money on a shitty vanity project for an overrated actress and thinking it's the greatest thing in the world instead of remastering a 30 year old show that was never a ratings powerhouse to begin with.

If they did start a remaster project for DS9 around 2022 or 2023, but paused for the merger, then I think it's important to keep it on their radar.

DS9 and Voyager carried the franchise for 14 seasons in the late 90s after TNG was gone, I think that warrants calling them a huge success.
But if you want a win, you can win, I don't care because I'm always right.
But we can agree to disagree, and move on.

Besides the view that it would be a very cynical product, Ai upscaling is a democratized product that anyone can use.
There are several fan upscales freely available, and I can even upscale the DVDs I own, then layer the upscales to see what works and what doesn't.
Sure in some ways it can look better than SD, but I've not seen it surpass bad 720p.
DVDs of DS9 and VOY are dirt cheap. at this instant.
I would argue that AI would destroy Okudagrams too.
So, IMO, it would be a very lazy product, I can use hyperbole to describe it as a hatchet job, because I feel at minimum
DS9 and Voyager should be on par with Babylon 5's remaster, nothing less than a hybrid approach like Babylon 5's, maintaining a 1.33:1 aspect ratio.
Perhaps they're not as valuable to the core franchise (I will argue that for DS9 it is as valuable, not so much for Voyager, but Voyager is really fun.)

The money isn't showing for them. If it was worthwhile they would have done it.
