Right. I don't think The Orville is necessarily how Seth would make Star Trek, so much as it's what he decided to make when he couldn't make Star Trek. In other words, it's definitely influenced by Trek, but it's not representative of what he would have done in a situation where he'd have to respect Star Trek canon.

Of course, we wouldn't be in this situation if he'd done his job better on the Columbia!
