Would you like George Lucas to make a comic book movie and if so which one?

Assuming he gets a good writer of course. I mean he does seem to have a vivid imagination so if he ever wanted to do one then am I the only who thinks it might be kind of cool to see it? What if he took over Guardians of the Galaxy for example after James Gunn does his last one? I think he cool pull of a very classical feeling Fantastic Four especially if you set in the 60's. How about Phantom? Even get Billy Zane back to pass the torch to a younger person.

In theory he could then be a idea man for a comic book movie. It would be interesting to see his take for example on Superman. Get his good buddy Speilberg to then make it and using a writer they like to write it.

Comic book movies don't need idea men. They have decades on decades of source material to draw ideas from. They need good writers and directors who can take some of those existing ideas that appeal to them and competently adapt them into movie form. And what you're proposing here wouldn't be 'Lucas' Superman', it would be Spielberg's Superman (written by x).

George Lucas would be great for a comicbook movie, if he doesn't write and has a co-director.

Let's face it, George doesn't understand dialogue or working with actors. But man, the guy knows how to visually tell a story. And comicbook movies are very visually driven. So, someone else writes, and someone directs with him. Someone who understands actors.

I can't really see him doing any more directing at this point. Is he still working on that storytelling museum? It sound like it could be really cool.

I thought Lucas would have produced an interesting Fantastic Four movie sometime in the late 70s / early 80s. His own work--and perspective in that era leads me to believe he would have been in the right zone to give Marvel the big screen splash it so desperately sought in that era.

I’d like to see him doing some second-unit directing on other people’s films. I do think he has a great eye for action and visuals. But even he wasn’t writing the scripts, he’s famously not great with actors; most modern comicbook films tend to cast very good actors for a reason, and they’d probably be wasted under George.

In theory? Sure. Why not. Can't be any worse than a lot of the crap that's been popping up lately.

No. Lucas isn't a good writer or director. He's a fine idea man, but you don't put an idea man on adapting an already existing property. The ideas already exist.
Lucas is a great director. Even the prequels have a distinct auteur quality to them, something not very common in the 'find it in the edit by committee" era. And the whole "he's doesn't work well with the actors" thing is so overblown. It's not great, but it's a way more common thing amongst younger cinema brats. Lucas's problem is he tries to wear too many hats.

He is a terrible writer though.

After what he did for "Howard the Duck"; no I wouldn't. He should stay as far away from comic book/superhero films as possible.

He got terrible performances out of great actors, so I think that's enough to consider him not great with actors.

McGregor was a shining standout in the Prequels, same with Lee, while Portman has said in so many words that she was not committed to the films, hence she's the reason for her terrible performance, not Lucas.

Imagine George visualizing the Negative Zone for the big screen.

He would no problem with it work as it did in the comics. The biggest challenge would be the casting of the Four--trying to capture the essence of their comic book versions, since the existing movies have left much to be desired in that department.
