Well, would you have done it?

Given all the info, would you have dropped the bomb or leave things alone?

If I'm Sawyer, I never get off that sub and live happily ever after with the hottest woman on that island.

If i"m Jack, I've pretty much always second guessed myself so I'm always looking for a reset button.

If I'm Locke....well, apparently I'm dead so I don't care so much.

Given all the info, would you have dropped the bomb or leave things alone?

Don't you mean "given the complete lack of any logical reason or even remotely compelling evidence would you have dropped the bomb."

I mean, seriously, on what basis did Jack think this was going to work? A few sketches in Faraday's journal?

I would have done it. For the reasons Rose and Bernard mentioned. So what if you end up dead? You won't care at that point. However, there might be a chance that it will all work out. Either way is better than living in the jungle waiting to be killed by the Dharma folks for the rest of your life. Basically, you've got nothing to lose by trying.

Since everything pretty much went to pot at this point I'd love the bomb. At least that has a sliver of a chance of working.

If there was a way to set up house like the other couple we saw then I wouldn't. But it doesn't look like that could happen.

it seems like setting off the bomb WAS the incident....having a (relatively) minor problem with your metal equipment being sucked in and a couple of casualties seemed like it wouldn't qualify for such an ambgious designation as "The Incident"...more like "the Accident".

Leave well enough alone.

Nobody knows how the cosmos works (Daniel had theories, but even he contradicted himself, and he's not God anyway), so there's no way to tell if predestination rules people's actions or not. Unless you know that, why do anything? You don't have enough information to make an intelligent choice.

Huh. Actually that could also be a rationale for dropping the bomb. If it's predestination, then you didn't have a choice so you did nothing wrong. If it's not predestination, then you can change the future/past/whatever. So why not go ahead and do it?

Gah, I change my vote! :D I'm corn-fused. This stupid show.

I mean, seriously, on what basis did Jack think this was going to work? A few sketches in Faraday's journal?
He didn't know, none of the character did. If they thought they did, they were deluding themselves. They were all acting on their personal impulses. Jack has a maniacal need to fix everything, so that's his motive. What, if anything, it accomplished is anybody's guess. Anything is possible now.
