Would you guys be interested in playing an online game show?

One that was based around Pop Culture and the things we talk around on this forum?

I've been working on an online game show concept for the last year, and I've just recent unveiled the website and trailer for the first series ahead on the January 7 2012 premiere date. But there doesn't seem to be a massive amount of interest so far, and I can't help but wonder if I'm barking up a uninterested tree or if I'm just a shitty promoter.

The game show is called Versus The World, and uses Skype's group video chat to connect the two players with The Host. There are 3 round per game (25 questions per round), one game per week, and each game has a different banner subject (as in the banner subject is the Terminator movies, but each round focuses on a different movie in the series).

The banner subjects for series one are:
Kevin Smith
Back To The Future
True Blood
Kiss
Pro Wrestling
Stargate

Most of the news and updates takes place on the Twitter page, as in this day and age I felt there wasn't any need for outside promotion, but so far there's only 2 people following me and I think both of them are scammers.

I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this, wheather you think the concept sounds interesting and you might like to play. And while, I realise this may come off as being somewhat selfserving, I hope you still be willing to help a fellow member out.

Pop culture is too general. If you're talking about sci fi on TV, I'd be able to participate. Popular music? Forget it, I stopped paying attention a long time ago.

Culture has balkanized into niche interests - this forum isn't about pop culture in general, it's about sci fi in particular, and even then there are sub-interests: superhero movies, Star Wars novels, etc.

Of the topics you listed, the only ones I know spit about are Back To The Future and (sadly) Stargate. Another person might know about KISS and WWF. But you're limiting your audience to be asking people to know all about all those topics. That's how things go these days.

Try this lineup instead: Firefly, Farscape, DS9, B5, Futurama, nuBSG. If someone knows about one of those, odds are they'll know about most or all of them. Or take KISS as your starting point and line up a bunch of bands in that category (glam metal, I think it's called?) Pro Wrestling could spin off several categories as well. Movies based on Marvel characters, movies based on DC characters, the list is endless.

Another thought: I don't think people would be as interested in answering questions than they would in stating their opinions. Everyone on the internet loves to run around yelling their opinions. So how about a debate rather than a trivia quiz? The contestants must pose the most convincing argument on whatever topic, such as "George Lucas is the spawn of Satan, true or false?" The audience votes on who did the best job.

As for the subjects you mentioned... they're coming. I wanted to spread thinks out for people, and not blow my load with all the good stuff. In the finals (as the show is designed as a tournement) superhero movies and sci-fi move again pop up, amoung other things.

Versus the World is firstly designed as a web-series, although in the future, there will my more and more interaction beyond the twitter page already set up... forums and the like.

Entertainment value is important. If your questions are too niche then there is a very limited audience. Also, humor and wit in the wording of the questions can be a big help. Think You Don't Know Jack, the game where high culture and pop culture combine. That was fun because you had to know the pop culture and high culture reference sometimes and then make the connection.

But your test is really going to be building up the audience after the thing gets going. All you really need to do is get your first few contestants lined up.

We're on the same wavelength, theenglish. The questions are very tounge in cheek, often worded in a way that recalls fun moments from the subject point. The show is designed to be very entertaining.
