Sure, I'd try an alpaca steak or some alpaca chops. Fire up the Weber grill.

How does emu taste??? I always wondered.

Well, the one time I had it was over 10 years ago (I was going to a bridge tournament in Leamington with my ex-husband, so it was prior to 1997), but I vaguely remember that it tasted like pork.

I've had alligator too (in New Orleans in 1995). I remember it being slightly spicy, but that could just have been from the way it was prepared. I was in New Orleans, after all.

I think I'm too old to add new animals to my diet... I added shrimp about 3 years ago and that's enough adventure.
You're NEVER too old to start eating new animals!

Sure, I'd eat alpaca. I'd eat cats and dogs if they tasted good. If I had the chance, I'd taste human flesh, just out of curiosity. (Cooked, not raw. I'm not a savage!)

How do you feel about eating bunnies?

I might
But after seeing that video I think I want an alpaca just to have around the house.

I've tried enough game that another species won't matter, so sure - bring it on.

Bloodwhiner, the ingester of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb, duck, goat, horse, alligator, rattlesnake, ostrich, armadillo, dove, venison, elk, bear, raccoon, fish (too numerous to list); lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels, oysters, squid, octopus, and some others I can't recall at the moment.

And not just the muscle - the tastiest cut of beef is the tongue. But don't miss out on tripe soup. You can also feast richly on the morrow, eyes, tail, or have cracklins (fried intestines).

If the animal is giving up it's life then it deserves to be completely used and not wasted.

I might just eat the four posters that would not eat the alpaca as well , if they get close enough to me that is., because I am the 21 first eating machine to admit to eating meat as it is.

I've eaten camel meat and it was not very good, but I would try alpaca given the opportunity, why not. There are few things I wouldn't eat on principle (I can't think of anything spontaneously though).

Dude, make sure you let me know if you ever visit the east coast. I'll be out of town that day.

I voted no on eating Alpaca.

My bunnies read that! :shifty:

Should we go ahead and invent another name for alpaca meat? Cows and bulls (cattle) are beef, pig is pork, and sheep is mutton, so perhaps alpaca meat should be called something like, um, ewok!

Rather melancholy. :(

Sure I'd eat Alpaca. I seems like a delicious enough animal.

I'd definitely try some. After reading up on alpaca meat, I'd probably eat this stuff all the time, assuming it tasted good.

From http://www.fancybears.com/aboutalpacas.html...

he main features of alpaca meat, which is extremely appreciated in Peru, are its high protein content (21%), its low fat content (4%), its low calorie content (101 kcal) and its low cholesterol level, which makes alpaca meat a healthy and light product in comparison to other kind of meats which have a higher cholesterol level (chicken, turkey, pig, beef, lamp).

*** EDITED ***

Fixed my statement from "eat this stuff all the time time" to "eat this stuff all the time".
