Would you choose to live in the Star Trek universe?

Imagine it. You're sitting in a darkened room surfing the various forums on TrekBBS...it's late at night.

A flash of light blinds you for a moment. Once your eyes adjust, and you staring straight at Q who is standing right next to you.

What the fuck?

Yep, it's Q. It's not John de Lancie. You didn't accidentally consume mushrooms or LSD. This is not a drill.

Despite the shock of the moment, Q presents you with a choice:

(Option 1) Drop everything right now. You get 5 minutes to write a note to loved ones. Then, he will transport you to the Star Trek Universe - any place or era of your choosing.

There is a catch. He's not going to make you a starship captain. But, he will give you enough Federation credits to make things comfortable for a time. Instead, it's up to you and your skills to chart a future in the Trek Universe. Oh, and you'll never get to see your loved ones again.

(Option 2) Respectfully say no. He'll wipe your memory of the encounter and life will go on with no knowledge of this moment.

So....what would you do? Stay here? Try your hand in the Star Trek Universe?

Which era? Which location?

It's as if you went into my head and plucked my ultimate Trek fantasy. I've got my own little RPG type story going on where I have been brought from this universe and sent to the Trek universe where I'm my own duplicate in this universe who has a life and career aboard a Sovereign class Starship in the year 2382. This Trek universe of mine also has a duplicate for everyone in this universe including all the actors who have been on Trek and explained away as being relatives or just very similar looking to there Trek counterparts.

I even had it that it was Q who arranged for this to happen to me and he made so that I had all the memories from this universe along with the memories from the Trek universe. The best idea for a story I've ever come up with.

It could be fun but I doubt I would be able to live on earth, I don't know how it works there unless you're in Star fleet but I think I would be seen as a total radical.

I'd be very tempted. I'd write a last note on my blog to write "I love you" for everyone I know to read. Say goodbye. Then I'll leave.

It would be a great adventure. I'd probably stay on Earth. I'd live as a civilian and yes, I would love to step a foot on the Enterprise.

24th century. I want to play in the holodeck. And I would be delighted to read about the last four centuries of computer evolution.

Hell yes. I'll make new freinds on the other side. But in ten years when I have a wife and kids, nah.

Not permanently, no. Couldn't give up friends, family & pets. :( Can I just visit? Maybe take some people with me?

However, setting aside that problem, I'd go in a hearbeat! The Star Trek universe is far more attractive that Farscape or Firefly, which just seem...hazardous... :D

The only thing that would stop me would be leaving my wife and kids. If they could come, in a heartbeat. I could see myself quite happy in the 24th Century. Even if I wasn't in Starfleet, and never left Earth, to live on a world with no pollution, no crime, no poverty, no war (at least between Earth countries), far superior medical knowledge... that would be damn hard to turn down.

Depends on the Trek universe you are talking about.
TOS - Enterprise and the 10 movies universe or Abrams' own little universe?
Since their one and the same no problem.

Got any evidence to back up that claim?
Even if this movie was titled "Star Trek: Reboot", you wouldn't believe it.

Nope - I simply couldn't be happy without my wife and son. :)

So, be like Kirk and break the rules. Take them with you.

Y'know, cheat. It's what I'd do.

No way. I belong in the 21st Century. A visit, sure but certainly not for good.

Incredibly, incredibly tempting.

But leaving everyone behind? I don't know if I could do it, or want to.

I'll believe it when someone involved with it says so. Everything from the writers statements to Nimoy playing Spock suggest it's a prequel not a reboot. Even if the designs change it's not a reboot as long as everything else is the same or very very close.

I'd hate to leave my fmily behind so I'll stay where I am.
