Would it of been funny if Kirk told Kruge to "Cling on"

GeneHunt

Commander
Red Shirt
When he was hanging off the cliffside? watched it last night and thought it might of been funny if he said it - later though on a rethink I thought it would have been seriously gringeworthy.

Thoughts?

Definitely a "cringe" moment if that had happened.

By the way, I think you mean, "Would it HAVE been funny" not, "of been funny."

My Mr. English Teacher moment of the day - although I think my punctuation above may be incorrect.

Add a comma after "funny." Remove the one after "not."

At least you care.

Thank you for the punctuation fix. That was a good catch on the sentence fragment as well. That was a perfect example of the insidious creep of poor grammar into our most common means of communicating.

As for caring, not always......

I guess we're lucky that moment came in a film before they went out of their way to be funny in TFF, or it may very well have made it in.

Kruge would've given smacked him right on the jaw...and I'd say Kirk had it coming.

It might be a good pun to put in a spoof of the movie, like one of those "Such-and-such in fifteen minutes" screenplays. It wouldn't work as an actual line in the actual movie.

While it would have been awful, I agree that post-TFF, this would have happened.

BoP bridge doors open.

Kirk: "Don't. How many more?"
Scotty: "Just him sir."
Klingon: "Commander Kruge?"
Kirk: "He couldn't cling on. Help us or die."
Klingon: "Kill me now."

:guffaw:

Then he could have said " you'd better bird of prey that you die before you hit that lava". At which point, I probably would have been working my way past the popcorn booth, instead of sitting through that boring Katra ritual.
That or he could have just said "Say hello to Anni, Smeagol, Uncle Bob and Ripley for me.
