And why does the Guardian of Forever scream Kiddie Flick?

Maybe he's worried they're remaking "Yesteryear" (TAS)?

We can only hope! That would be awesome! j/k

Although, I realize that point was a joke, but it is possible they could be remaking elements of Yesteryear. Timetraveling rumors, guardian of Forever rumors, Spock's past before he was completely logical... I could definitely see elements of Yesteryear working in to the script.

I'll also not see it if it has the Kobiashi Maru as it would be an attempt to make Kirk sneaky and I wouldn't like that either.

Kirk was sneaky, being sneaky usually implies the ability to be able to handle a situation. Kirk always used wit and loopholes to overcome his foes or obstacles in his or his crews way - not bad in someone cowboying around a hostile galaxy...

Actually, I sort of can. In fact, I'd put the likelihood of this movie fulfilling the studio's highest expectations for it at somewhat worse than 50/50.

It might be hard for the studio to take an absolute bath on this thing, but it could easily be a big disappointment to the studio.

The budget is between 120 and 150 million dollars.

No "Star Trek" film ever released has come close to earning the kind of money in first-run that this film will have to pull in to be a success.

I agree. What current movie franchises get 150 million dollar budgets and earn profits equal to the expectations of their backers? Spiderman. X-Men. Star Wars. Star Trek has never -- except for TMP -- earned the kind of money it would need to fulfill those expectations. So, it will have to transcend its origins to make the "big time". Nothing makes it less certain of success, and nothing makes it more likely to be quite a bit different from what anyone is expecting.
