Worthless Observation #2 - Obsession

Nurse Chapel has a different uniform emblem in this episode, unless I'm mistaken. Its the same general Starfleet badge, but with a red cross in place of the usual medical logo.

Like I said, a worthless observation, but I thought I may as well double check it with someone else.

Cant post a picture but your right, its the usual Enterprise badge but with a red cross.

It wasn't only in 'Obsession'; she often (if not always) had a red cross on her badge. There are various badges...Kirk and many other "goldshirt" officers had a "star" in the middle, Scotty and many of the "redshirts" had a swirl on their emblem, while Spock and McCoy and many other "blueshirts" had a circle (designating the 'science' division, I think). Chapel may have been the only one we saw with a cross, but I cant be sure. I'm also not sure whether or not the emblem followed the shirt color.

I remember the various regular emblems within the badge for engineering etc, but the red cross seemed like an oddity.

I read somewhere that Gene (Roddenberry) asked Majel to come up with a nursing division insigna for her charactor, and that's what she came up with.
