Worth Of A Rare Trek Item?

I'm curious to know how to determine the worth of a rareish Trek item. I have a never worn t-shirt from the recent writer's strike, the shirt made up for the day all the Trek folks came out in support. Any way to know if this is some sort of collector's item?

I have not yet....not really sure where to start for an item like the shirt...

I'm not really sure if this even qualifies as a Trek collectible....

Try a ridiculously overpriced ebay auction and see what your high bid is... might be a good "real world" indicator.

Of course it's a collectors' item! But it's only ever worth what someone else is willing to pay.

These days it's not impossible to replicate a message T-shirt. It was made on the hop in the first place, possibly from that online "CafePress" shop where you can order any quantity of your own design on T-shirts, mugs, mousepads, whatever, so the urgent need for a fan to own an authentic one isn't what it used to be at, say, the height of TNG's popularity. Not only that, it's ENT related, and there were fewer fans of that show than TOS or TNG.

At a charity auction, such a shirt might bring wild prices! Ditto if it was autographed by actors from ENT, or the writers who were on the picket lines.

But, as a "rare" ST T-shirt, you just need to find the right (or maybe desperate-to-be-completist) buyer. Or someone who was at the event but failed to secure a T-shirt at the time.

Ask yourself: how much is it worth to you? How much is it worth to someone who wasn't there? Stick it on ebay for a $20 reserve and see what happens. Or get it autographed at a convention, maybe with a pic of the actor or writer signing it, and the value rises.
