Evidently DS9 fans never forgave Favorite Son for pointing out how fantasies about a secret birth hiding an amazing destiny really are kind of childish. I doubt the offhand dismissal of genetic determinism (and Jem'hadar---how is that spelled?) went down well either. Still, how can even Niners possibly overlook the vileness of Blood Fever?!

Saving the caveman chief's kid by jumping rock to rock in a lava stream was itself so ghastly that Basics, either part, is always a major candidate for suckiest show.

False Profits people agree with me about. Ferengi are not funny and what they did was especially not funny. But they wrote a comedy anyhow!

This was a hard choice because this is one of my favorite seasons, I ended up voting for Sacred Ground, Remember and Favorite Son. Couldn't stand those.

So many horrible episodes. I hate to admit it, but Jeri Ryan saved Voyager.
Anyway...

Coda ...:scream: Simply, Offensive.

Now that it's here, why do many people hate this episode? I remember when it was first on, I really liked it and still do to an extent. I like Janeway kind of kicking her father's ass at the end and showing how strong of a character she was. Yet, you call it offensive and I'm not entirely sure why?

I don't find it offensive but Coda was just boring. It started out like it might be interesting but felt like a pale imitation of so many better TNG episodes-The Next Phase, The Inner Light, Cause and Effect.

I don't understand why Sacred Ground was a bad episode. I really liked the faith vs. science and in that episode Janeway starts questioning her scientific beliefs when Kes' soul is taken from that shrine. I thought it was a very interesting episode and it left me with my mouth hanging wide open. I really liked it when the Doctor started explaining the tricorder readings that Chakotay took from the shrine..and then the Captain gave the Doc a quesitonable look. One thing that sent a shiver down my spine was when the Captain said: It's a perfectly sound explanation, Doctor. Very...scientific. In that moment, she started to question her scientific beliefs.

And why do posters dislike Coda??? It wss one of my most fav eps from Season 3!!! I cried when Chakotay was in tears over the loss of his Captain. Maybe it was due to the fact that there was a demon aspect to the episode. An alien appeared as her father to try to lure her into his matrix. Now I can understand people taking offense at that, but I really enjoyed this episode as a whole. It made me question death..what happens when you die? Is there an afterlife? :)

I do, however, understand False Profits being a worse episode. Those Ferengi can get pretty annoying at times. And those pants that Paris and Chakotay wore...they looked like hammer pants!!!!!!!!!!! :guffaw:

I wasn't too fond of Rise either..it was kind of strange. And I forgot the plot of the ep when I first saw the name of it. I was like :wtf: which ep is this????? :) So, it was forgetful for me.

I hate Code because of the way it ends. It basically indicates that there is no afterlife just a bunch of hungry aliens waiting to feast on your life energy. If you're not smart enough to avoid their matrix you'll end up "nourishing" them for a long time. If the ending had been written just a bit differently it wouldn't have been a bad episode.

I love season three, so it was hard to choose.

False Profits, Alter Ego and Fair Trade.

The one that's surprising me for having 4 votes is Remember, which is probably one of my Top 5 VOY eps altogether. It's emotionally moving, Roxann Dawson gives possibly her best performance in 7 years, and it has something relevant to say...some tough choices, without an easy ending.

It was corny, trite, and Beltran's acting sucked.

The only believable scene in the entire episode was B'Elanna's speech.

IMO, of course. Your mileage obviously varies.

Favorite Son
False Profits
The Q and the Grey

My main bone with these were that they're in the Delta Quadrant and keep tripping over things from the Alpha Quadrant--Ferengi, Q, Harry's "birth" planet, etc.

It's not letting me vote but my noms are:

Rise (boring)
Favourite son (boring)
False Profits (Chuckles and Paris are so boring together in this episode)

I think because he's moved on to "Season Three Part Two" without closing this one first.

Well, the poll closed as scheduled, and Part Two didn't start till then. As for closing the thread itself, in some of the forums there has been interest in carrying on discussions after the polling period had ended, so I quit requesting the threads to be closed.

Got it.
