New Ground, Cost of Living, and Imaginary Friend.

Hero Worship, Masterpiece Society, and The Outcast are all close contenders...otherwise the season is pretty strong!

Very strong season, but The Cost of Living is really just awful and The Outcast isn't much better. Threw Perfect Mate in for good measure.

I know some have issues with season five but I found always have found it to be very entertaining and consistent. I pretty much enjoyed every episode and even my least favorites are watchable and yes that includes Cost of Living.

I went with Hero Worship, The Outcast, and Cost of Living. None are particularly horrible. The Outcast tried to be something worthwhile but it just didn't work at all.

Another very strong season, IMO. However, Cost of Living, Imaginary Friend and Violations are my least favourite. I did enjoy The Outcast personally and didn't think the "message" was too wussy or diluted.

Wussy or diluted? My problem with the episode has always been the opposite: it's way too forceful and heavy-handed, IMO.

Apparently a group of mildly vocal people believe that Soren should've been more man-like or something to that effect. That seems somewhat unrealistic.

The Outcast isn't great but I liked how it addressed certain things and I really loved Riker's speech to the J'naii at the end. Too bad Soren wasn't played by a man.

The Master Piece (of crap) Society for being heavy handed...hey, let's guilt these people for being genetically bred. We can do that because they are human, not aliens. Bigotry begins at home in the 24th century. Whine away Geordi, you are chief engineer...what are you complaining about? Whattsa matter Picard, you might not have been born there cuz you are bald? Get over yourselves.

Silicon Avatar for being convaluted and preachy. Data has every colonist's journal and voice on file. Giant snowflake expert is mother of dead colonist. Revenge is wrong...except when Worf kills his mate's murderer and later off joins a faction in an alien civil war.

Yeah, those actually annoy me more than Lwaxana's stinker (it was close, though) from what I consider a WEAK season that started off decent (intro Ensign Ro) then floundered when someone decided to make the show more family oriented drama...again...bring on Alexander and episodes like Hero Worship...which was one half of THE BONDING redone, the other was Imaginary Friend.

Plus we got (so-so) Power Play and (better) Conundrum back to back...mess with the crew's minds twice shame on you.

Then it ended with Time Travel silliness.

Lots of wasted episodes when the show should've been riding a wave of popularity.

What is it you find so bad about this episode? I rather liked it. In my opinion the idea of a real imaginary friend was kind of scary and felt novel. I also enjoyed Noley Thornton's acting. She was one of the better child actors.

I liked Imaginary Friend too mainly because of Clara/Thornton, I liked seeing the crew/ship from a child's perspective, the spider web effect was cool too.

I liked Silicon Avatar too. I thought Data's blunt android response to Kila's question of her son being proud of her for avenging his death was devastating.

Power Play--so-so. I can't agree with that either. It was another successful Brannon high concept story. I liked the altered personas of the away team. Brent was especially chilling and the action was first-rate.
