Worst Episode of ENT

Plomeek Broth

I am currently up to Season 2 episode Precious Cargo which I will be viewing tonight for the first time. What is considered the worst episode in ENT's 4 year run? I know this has been brought up before, but I couldn't find a thread about it. :klingon:

There are plenty. Didn't you know this whole forum is about what people hate about Enterprise?

I have really enjoyed ENT so far, especially since I had such low expecations for all of the criticism it gets. I just wondered if I had seen the worst episode of the show yet or not.

I don't think there are any truly bad episodes of ENT. Just some that are meh and a couple that are silly.

I think people are generally harsh on this show for a couple of reasons:

They were somehow soured on how VOY turned out.

They were expecting the series to look more like TOS.

They were expecting more of a "true prequel," whatever the hell that means.

They were expecting the Captain of ENT to be more heroic and less flawed, like Kirk or Picard.

They were dissapointed by the UPN mandated Trek retread stories.

The ship looked too modern to look like it came before TOS.

Catsuits, catsuits, catsuits.

They were unhappy about how certain relationships were portrayed

The decon chamber

Time travel in general, forgetting that TCW was also mandated by the network.

A great many episodes that should have been great were kinda ho-hum.

Franchise fatigue and complacency.

"Bad writing"

Fans felt that the writers didn't "get" Star Trek or somehow weren't fans of the show.

Fans just love to bitch because they can't ever get laid.

There, I think I've covered the biggies.

Arguably BROKEN BOW.

Within less than 5 minutes we're agony boothed by that tacky theme song straight out of some cheesy car commercial:mad: & then we had that Space Caveman crashing his star-segway into that barn. Wasn't his name Honor-Honor Klings?

2 bad apples right on:
*The inappropriate, pop-tart theme:scream:
*The head-ridged 'Klingons', which are ST's Gungans:mad:

There you go.

And adding insult to injury, later on in the series, B&B's utter misuse of Dean Spockwell to boot:scream::mad:

What is that one with the transporter in the 4th season? What was that guy's name? Emory Erickson? Ah, "Daedalus" -- that's it. Horrible.

You are going to watch it tonight. For me, Precious Cargo is the worst episode of ENT and it would probably be in my bottom 5 of all Trek.

Enjoy. :)

You know, that's actually a long and reasonable list.

I loved Enterprise. Season 3 and 4 are awesome and there a few good episodes in season 2. But overall, season 2 sucks. And one of the worst episodes is the one you plan on watching tonight - Precious Cargo. Horrible, horrible episode. Good luck getting through it without falling asleep or laughing at how absurd the 'relationship' is! A Night In Sickbay is also a stinker. It's just ridiculous. But once you get to the season 2 finale and then season 3, it's a much better show.

After all said and done, I understand why some people didn't like the show.

I simply didn't let the reasons I stated above to ruin what I did like about the show.

I can't decide between Precious Cargo and Harbinger....both should have never been made ......

I actually liked Precious Cargo. Maybe I was in a mood for a bit of light comedy in the form of bantering when it came on. A Night In Sickbay will always be my worst. When a show starts off with something that makes me say "No one would ever do that" out loud then it is going to be a bad episode until the end. That is exactly what I said when Archer took his dog down to the planet to beg for parts from the race that got insulted by seeing them eat in an earlier episode.

Within less than 5 minutes blah blah...
So basically, you hated ENT. Ah well, De gustibus non est disputandum.

Season 1 - "Terra Nova" was terrible, but "Dear Doctor" was truly offensive.

Season 2 - "Precious Cargo" sucked, but "A Night (of wet dreams) in Sickbay" was something to be endured.

Season 3 - "Extinction" - what the hell was that about?

Season 4 - "Daedalus" - apart from being a boring piece of whatever, there's something else that bothered me. Zephram Cochrane was American, so was Henry Archer. Couldn't the transporter inventor be like Hungarian, Nicaraguan, Kenyan of something? Nooooo....

That was pretty dumb in ANiS when Archer and Phlox are chasing that stupid bat around for laughs. That ep may get my vote, but I will have to go back and look at the list of episodes I have seen so far.

What do people think of 2 Days and 2 Nights? I am so jealous of that dude on Risa that made Hoshi grab her ankles.

I had the opposite reaction, I liked ANIS but hated Precious Cargo. ANIS was ultimately a show about nothing important and the plot was minimal, so I enjoyed watching the surreal things happening on screen. Precious Cargo had a story and completely flubbed it. From the very moment that woman started talking I could just tell that she and Trip would get off on some jungle planet.

I have a morbid fascination with watching the worst episode of a series for some reason.

I may get my chance tonight. Look out, Threshold!

A Night in Sickbay
Terra Nova
These Are The Voyages---it actually made me ANGRY, it was so bad.

Please. Don't give the new kids ideas.

I love Enterprise. I don't have a "worst" episode.
