Worst Episode of DS9 Season Seven Part One

Overall one of the best Trek seasons. But there are some clunkers, too:

Once More Unto the Breach (Klingon honor nonsense.)
The Emperor's New Cloak (Ferengi visiting the MU? No!)
Extreme Measures (Good O'Brien/Bashir moments, but overall a perfect example how to NOT do a bottle show.)

There were only three clear losers this season in my mind: Prodigal Daughter, which didn't even feel like a Trek ep and was part of the Ezri overkill that lessened Season 7 in my eyes, Emperor's New Cloak, by which time the MU had been beaten to death already, and Extreme Measures which sadly ground the momentum of the closing arc to a screeching halt.

Afterimage - not bad, but I didn't think Garak was particularly well handled.

Prodigal Daughter - it was okay, but as Geck said it didn't really feel like a Trek episode.

Emperor's New Cloak - normally I like over-the-top, but this one just went too far.

Covenant - This one is the embodiment of everything I hate about post-Sacrifice of Angels Dukat stories.

Prodigal Daughter - I appreciate that the writers wanted to A.) Do a sequel to a good S6 episode and B.) Develop Ezri sans Dax in a manner that Jadzia had been sorely neglected. Ultimately, they did both in a predictable and annoying manner.

The Emperor's New Cloak - See my description of Covenant? Replace "Sacrifice of Angels" with "Shattered Mirror" and "Dukat" with "Mirror Universe".

This is actually my favorite season of DS9. That said, I didn't care for:

Covenant-dull and the only thing I liked about it was the set-up for Dukat later in the season.

Extreme Measures-this hurt the momentum nicely built up by the Final Chapter. It felt like it belonged in early DS9 as it felt like a standalone coupled with the "it all happened inside your head". Plus the other more interesting threads were absent.

BTW I like Emperor's New Cloak.

Although I missed a few episodes, Season 7 seemed to drop off a bit in terms of quality, but it overall was a strong season.

"Emperor's New Cloak" was just...not enjoyable at all, and did what DS9 rarely did for me, e.g. making it a chore for me to finish.

Covenant: Sick of Empok Nor. Sick of Dukat and Kira.

Prodigal Daughter: Must every show have a "Prodigal/Prodigy" titled episode? That and yeah, the episode didn't feel like DS9. O'Brien looking into the death of some widow of some guy he met, which just happens to connect to Ezri's family. Whatever.

Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang: Enough of the Holodeck and enough of Vic already. The only thing worthwhile was Sisko's grumpy tirade about how the holodeck sanitizes/glosses over the racist past. Which is true, and is true of Hollywood often, too. But then he becomes a good sport and we get another frivilous holodeck outing. Yay.

I can' say that these there eps were bad, it's just that I liked them the least.

Wow, that's really one of my favorite episodes. Great actors and gripping drama.

Very solid season. I don't think of any of these as clunkers, but I had to choose 3.

Chrysalis - Bashier love stories are usually pretty annoying, but this one is years better than Melora, at least.

Badda Bing, Badda Bang - Not terrible, but a bit pointless. Had to choose something.

Afterimage - The Ezri finding-herself episodes and dealing with Worf were a bit annoying. Not unwatchable by any means.

I even liked Emperor's New Cloak, to some extent anyway.

Wow, that's really one of my favorite episodes. Great actors and gripping drama.

That's what I said was so tough about this season. There weren't really bad episodes per say. Just chose the ones that were my least favorite.

It's Only a Paper Moon

I really disliked the whole Dukat/Pagh-Wraith story-arc and Convenant is the Epsiode which focuses on it completly so it has to be the first.
It's Only a Paper Moon and Chrysalis aren't so bad, but compared with the rest they are the two, which have to go.

IMHO Rom's thoughts concerning the Mirror Universe were pretty funny, so "The Emperor's New Cloak" isn't and I really like Ezri so "Prodigal Daughter" was interesting for me.

The whole Season was very good and even "Convenant" is better than many Epsiodes, which came before.

Covenant - I just found it to be dull and a difficult hour to sit through.
Prodigal Daughter - Unecessary character padding for Ezri and time that could have been spent elsewhere.
The Emperor's New Cloak - The worst episode of the season by far, absolutely pointless and camp, with a blatant continuity error.
