Not meant to be a dig on DS9, which in retrospect was the most consistently well acted and and well written of any of the Trek series. But I did these polls for both TNG and VOY last year, and didn't want DS9 not to feel the love.

badda bing badda bang - Ok, I did not get the appeal of the whole Vic thing, at all. So an entire episode devoted to "saving" his make believe casino, was just stupid. The idea that "Felix" deus ex machina style programmed the holodeck so that they couldn't just delete the gangsters, was just silly. If it were that important, couldn't they just have sent Worf to go kick Felix's ass?

Profit and Lace - I hated all the Ferengi episodes. I liked the character of Quark, but once the rest of the greedy annoying menagerie was added, I wanted to tune out. They were all nothing more than filler. I picked this one because it involved Quark in drag. Nuff said.

Let He Who is Without Sin - Dax, Worf, Bashir, and his Dabo-girlfriend go on vacation, and Worf is a stick in the mud. Pretty much the whole plot right there. Ugh.

The Muse - Which is creepier, Jake getting it on with an ugly old alien, or Odo marrying Lwaxana? Seriously. Maybe I just couldn't get past the image of her being pregnant.

...And if there's another episode you'd like to nominate, the comments section is open. :)

Voted for Let He Who Is Without Sin. With Profit and Lace, I could at least see what they were going for, it just came off embarrassingly badly. Let He... just had no reason to exist from the start and shouldn't have even made it past the initial story pitch.

I like Badda Bing Badda Bang for the style and swagger (despite hating Vic), and The Muse is a hollow idea stretched out to fill 44 minutes, but it's boring at worst, not offensively bad.

Other candidates for me include: Q-Less, Rivals, Profit and Loss, Crossfire, Prodigal Daughter, The Emperor's New Cloak, and Extreme Measures.

I haven't seen Meridian in probably 10 years, but I never had the hatred for it that others seem to.

Replace Badda-Bing with Meridian and you're all set.

Really? A DS9 worst episode poll with Badda-Bing and without Meridian? I love Badda-Bing. Meridian is just cringeworthy, at least the A-story anyway.

Out of the four there, Profit and Lace is easily the worst. I don't mind the other two.

I vote Profit and Lace, It was just silly.

I am not a Vic Fontaine fan, either. I thought the character was just pure self-indulgence on Ira Behr's part.

I find it odd to have Badda-Bing on the shortlist, sure a lot of people may hate it (like I hear a lot hate 'Take me out to the Holosuite'), but they're also episodes which are loved by many (myself included).

From this list, I can't go past Profit & Lace.

I can tolerate 'The Muse' due to it's oddness and 'Let he...' is a pretty enough episode though with a crappy storyline. Though you know it was always going to be a mediocre episode as it's a Dax focussed episode and few of those aren't poor.

Let He Who is Without Sin has to be my least favorite. Way too much screen time for Jadzia. She's the only of the main cast (besides Ezri) that I don't like.

I'll never understand the Profit and Lace hate. I thought it was quite entertaining!

And Saavik, thanks to Dr. Bashir, Quark was able to take it a lot further than just dressing up in women's clothes... :p

Let He Who is Without Sin... is, for me, the worst episode of DS9. When I re-watched it last year after not seeing it for ages I thought "it can't be that bad" - well, I was wrong! There are very few TV episodes I've seen that are so actively bad.

Your list needs work, though. There should be far more candidates (e.g. Meridian, Rivals, Ferengi Love Songs).

As for The Muse, well, it is a rubbish story, but I actually like all the character interactions, especially Odo and Lwaxana. I honestly wish Lwaxana had shown up some more times on DS9.

Let He Who Is Without Sin... hands down! What the hell were they thinking?!

badda bing badda bang
- I like Vic.

Profit and Lace - Either the second or third worst of the series. I'd include Valiant in this second/third tie. At least with Profit and Lace I can see what they were trying to do, even if it failed in every possible way. With Valiant, I just can't understand what they were going for.

The Muse - The A-story with Jake was pretty dull, but not horrible. The B-story with Odo and Lwaxana was pretty good IMO.

Other episodes I'd nominate....
Move Along Home
If Wishes Were Horses
Paradise
Bar Association
Valiant

Another one I don't like. Writers: there are Trekkies that live outside America! :P

I live outside the USA and I enjoy 'Take me out to the Holosuite'.

Doctor Who is much much much worse with the region-specific situations. Everything is written in such a way that makes it appear that the UK is the center of the world... which is something which hasn't been nearly true for at least 100 years. It's rare for any other country to even be mentioned.

At least when the USA gets attacked by aliens in modern Science Fiction it at least makes sense as the USA is still the head of the Western World.

Fascination? The Emperor's New Cloak? Why are they not on the list?

Badda-Bing Badda-Bang is far from being one of the worst. It's not even the worst of season 7, not by a long shot.

whats the matter with you people? emperors new cloak and badda-bing badda-bang? bad? Nicole deBoer in a waiter's outfit and leather. that's a killer plot, right there.

Badda-Bing Badda-Bang: It's enjoyable fluff that had the misfortune of being placed in a season that had too much fluff at that point. I later came to accept it because the next 10-11 episodes get back to meaty material.

The Muse: It's just dull, but not offensively bad. One time when I watched it, I actually connected with the Odo story, but when I watched it again I didn't.

Profit and Lace: The break meeting for this episode went something like this...
BEHR: Does anybody have an idea for the next episode?
ECHEVARRIA: How about an emotional character episode centred on Odo?
BEHR: That's all you ever suggest at these meetings.
MOORE: Let's randomly make Kira a Changeling with no regard for her previous characterisation.
BEHR: When you have your own show, Ron, you can screw it up whatever way you like, but I'm screwing up my show in my own way: Ferengi comedy episodes.
BEIMLER: Oh, we could do an episode where Quark becomes a woman.
BEHR: Good idea, Hans. And we could make him into an offensive female stereotype, that'll really piss people off.
MOORE: Turn a man into a woman, you say? Interesting...
And that's the story of how Starbuck became a woman. :)

Let He Who Is Without Sin...: There's a nugget of a good idea here; that the Federation is too soft and unable to take on a force like the Dominion. Unfortunately, that idea turned into a nugget of shit, and then it self-replicated until it became a steaming pile of shit. Worst. Episode. Ever.

And that's the story of how Starbuck became a woman. :)
She used to be a man? Did Lee and Zak know about it?

And to think that all that time throughout the first 3 seasons people were criticizing BSG for the lack of LGBT characters, and they had a transsexual main character all the time! :bolian: ;)
