Worst Covers

Man of Steel

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Since I started a thread about Trek covers, I decided to make another about what you think the worst covers are/were?

^Agreed. The Double Helix ones weren't very good at all. The art was blurry and the general design was uninspired, IMO, of course...

It was the same basic cover for each but with different people like Spock & McCoy on one, Picard & Calhoun on another, Riker, Chakotay & B'Elanna on another. Kind of blah...

Losing the Peace's cover is among the most memorably bad. One of the A Time To . . . books was odd, also; the image of Data used looked like it had been taken from his brief journey underwater in Insurrection. It was unflattering.

^I thought both of those covers were lacking. Both Data and Picard looked odd...

Soul Key. Without wishing to be harsh, it looks like someone ran out of time and knocked it up with Photoshop in five minutes.

Another vote for The Soul Key. Awful Photoshop.

At least in the old days, someone actually took the trouble to draw. THAT, on the other hand, had to have been slapped together in five minutes just like disasterprone said.

My least favorites tend to be the ones with what look like publicity shots of the actors. Enterprise's By the Book, Surak's Soul and What Price Honor? and DS9s Emissary immediately come to mind.

That being said, one of my favorites is Enterprise's Rosetta which is a photo of an actor but they just did so much more with it.

GHost Ship, and that inverted Battlestar...

That's the one that jumped to mind right away when I read the OP. If was going to pick one of the more recent ones, IMO, I'm going to go with "Before Dishonor" for the bad Photoshop look.

Intellivore, that one makes Data look like a sex offender. Just picture "Do You want some candy?"

Losing the Peace's cover is among the most memorably bad.
I quite disagree. It's not a pretty cover, but it's not a pretty story, which makes the cover rather fitting, IMO.

There's nothing wrong with the idea behind the cover concept of Loosing the Peace, but I dont think it was executed that well when put together. The images of both Worf and Picard jar at how awkardly they are fitted on for one thing.

Yet another vote for Soul Key. It's horrible. Nothing else comes to mind immediately.

Also, it's not a bad cover, but the Cardassian skull on the cover for Station Rage (DS9 #13) creeped me out when I was a kid.

A lot of the early Voyager numbered covers are pretty bad too. I remember one of Janeway's face in profile where it looked, like, squished to one side. It was entirely bizarre.
