I mean I could go as to say all the different Star Trek shows take place in different timelines to account for the differences between them, if they have to be explained in-universe (like the difference in appearance of the Trill,or some of the events in TOS being strange or impossible from the perspective of the later shows) . But every single episode having its own timeline is a little bit obsessive in my opinion.
Same with people who prefer the whole Benny Russel ending because "it would explain away the inconsistencies in Star Trek, since it's all just stories Benny Russel made up"
Like...why would you need Benny Russel for that? Why not accept it as the stories of the many real life people who actually created and wrote for Star Trek?

Nah. The only bummer is you missed the post that got them booted and can't search their profile for it.

And you don't know if the occupant was guilty of murder, or just didn't keep off the grass. SB posted a lot, and I never saw anything questionable from them.

Agreed. This is why I like Discovery because I get to engage it differently for it to all work together rather than treating it as a separate continuity.

Back to the topic, I have an episode that I really felt damaged The Doctor badly... "VIRTUOSO".

This and "AUTHOR, AUTHOR" were really making his ego too large, but at least with the latter episode he was trying to do something with a message behind it. "VIRTUOSO" was just him stroking his ego, pure and simple. I think he was being too cold to the crew here. Seven's fan letter at the end was really sweet, but honestly... he didn't deserve it. And I AM a big fan of The Doctor. A lot of my favorites of VOYAGER center on him. But this was one episode that just hurt him in my eyes.

And honestly, it made Janeway look a little reckless here. She was going to let her ONLY doctor leave the ship for good? I like Tom, but he was in no way equipped or suited to take on being a full time doctor. If The Doctor had left, the next disease the crew finds would likely be its last. Never mind all the injuries from plasma leaks, alien attacks, spatial anomalies, etc.

Now this one I agree 100%.

I love VOY, but this episode was so stupid, it was stoopid.

"I'm leaving you without a doctor for the rest of your journey because these people love my singing so much..."

I think Janeway needed to appear reckless at times. She was often so buttoned up when it came to different facets of the crew it was hard to believe.

That said, I agree that Tom was not well equipped. It would be nice if that was highlighted more as to just how much they depended on the current crew and their skills. What I think the episode did was highlight just how often Voyager missed really simple ideas.

When they get old, they get all red and bloated and then they go off in supernova explosions and turn into neutron moderators or even singularity moderators where nothing, not even light can escape. When regular moderators get old, they just turn into white dwarves.

Perhaps it's not a fair analogy as The Doctor is an AI, but if Janeway doesn't feel she has the right to compel the rest of her crew to remain on the ship, what right does she have to compel The Doctor to do so?

And if it's because he is an AI, then, as with Tuvix, I'd start to question the ethics of leading an entity to believe it has the right to self-determination only to take that right away when it becomes inconvenient.

The Doctor seems to enjoy higher status of freedom and self determination than the organic crew.
Tuvix: Doesn't want to be separated. Janeway forces the issue.
B'Elanna: Doesn't want treatments created by Cardassian war criminal. Janeway overrules her.
EMH (Latent Image): Objects at life-saving treatment because it messes with his memory. Janeway acquiesces.

I was just rereading this old (but only 3m old) topic, and seeing that some consider "Pale Moonlight" to be a Sisko assassination episode. I don't see it as such. But it is, sort of, a character assassination episode. But the target is not Sisko, or even any one person.

Rather, IMO, it assassinates... the Romulans.

The Romulans are supposed to be the champions of sneaky, underhanded tactics. And yet, they are so utterly outmaneuvered by a Starfleet officer and a Cardassian exile, they don't even ask questions before entering a war that could annihilate them if they lose.

But then, lots of races take a beating in the latter part of DS9. The Klingons are almost brought down by political rivalry, and the Ferengi basically turn into Federation 2.0...
