Worried About Terminator Salvation?

I dunno; im starting to get a little worried about Terminator Salvation. Besides the obvious jokes about McG directing the movie and the Bale rant, I am a little worried that no official advance reviews have appeared yet on the internet.

Normally, when a studio knows that a movie is good and will be getting good reviews, they normally will allow advance reviews to be published early on in order to get good word of mouth buzz before a release. We recently saw this with the latest Trek film and saw it last year also with the Dark Knight. I guess I'm a little worried that we haven't been seeing the same with Salvation. Are my fears unwarranted?

we're still 2 weeks away from opening so I wouldn't worry about anything. i didn't see anything regarding ST until a couple days before release, and that's when positive stuff started coming out. DK only got early positive press because of Heaths death, otherwise the hype would have been half. I'm more worried about T5 at this point.

I'm kind of clinging on to the fact that there's no way Christian Bale would have changed his mind after initially turning down the job if the script wasn't at least half decent.

Terminator + future war + Christian Bale= pure awesomeness

That's a scientific fact.
Can't wait

After reading the prequel novelization, I became quite hopeful.

Then McG talked about the alternate dark-as-night ending, in which not only is Connor killed and Wright replaces him, but Wright then kills all the other resistance characters.

That, right there, scares the living shit out of me. Because they where going to use that ending until it got half-way leaked.

So I'm back up on the hopeful, but cautious fence.

I think the film overall will rock.

What remains to be seen is if it will end on a good note for continuation, or end on a horrible crappy-ass franchise killing note like was originally planned.

The fact that McG could even consider doing such... frightens me to no end.

What Terminator fan could end a Terminator film with Connor and everyone else dieing? That's just... blasphemy!

I want to leave the theater with a smile and wanting to see more. Not a shameful sigh and shaking my head from side to side.

I was really looking forward to this but the trailer really didn't impress me. In fact, to be upfront about it, the film looked wank. They even had someone cheesily shouting 'NOOOO!' which is never a good start. And during the 'you think you're human' but, someone behind me in the cinema said "Cylons". I have to say, I was thinking the same. Bee done? sure, been done dozens of times, not a BSG invention by any means. But been done very recently and pretty high profile.
A good trailer doesn't necessarily mean a good film - but a rubbish trailer all too often heralds a rubbish film. If they had better stuff, they'd have put it in the trailer.

that's a lot of emotional investment for some crappy ass summer movie!

How in the world does the Bale rant have any bearing on how good the movie will be?

I don't see any connection whatsoever other than stretching it and figuring Bale potentially channeling that passion/anger into the character... Which would actually be positive, not negative.

I think you have reason to be worried.

I have seen the preview twice now in two weeks at the cinema and I actually looked away the second time because it bored me SO much. Generic action and explosions oh and here's ANOTHER enigmatic cyborg character(Arnie, Arnie 2, blonde bland chick), generic all 'round.

The bad thing is, my partner is really jazzed for this so I guess I HAVE to see the damned thing.

I'd prefer to go see ST again!

If the ''blonde bland chick'' were say, asian or indian or black would that have been better? Oh, and if your parter wants to see terminator let him, you just sneak over to the Trek showing without him ever knowing.

No - Asian, Indian or black would just be token. And that is kinda clichéd nowadays. The blonde chick was a MASSIVE mistake because she had NO menace in a film that was already kinda dumb to start off with.

Cautiously pessimistic, then?

I'm still really looking forward to this. I've really liked everything I've seen so far. So, no, I'm not worried beyond the usual worries that I have for just about every new movie.
