I'm a bit surprised to see a low-brow, dumbass comedy flop so definitively. Whatever happened to the good old days when stupidity paid off? The problem might be that it's aimed at guys, yet it's on ABC.
Guys don't watch TV and those who do don't watch broadcast and those who do don't watch ABC. ABC is for chicks now, that's why Once Upon a Time is doing gangbusters.
Meanwhile, it's impossible for broadcast to compete with cable for the truly un-PC stuff. If that's what you want, go watch Archer (returning this Thurs, yippee!!)

Oh, perhaps it's a "valid" stereotype. I've know a couple of people like Jack as well (and one who wasn't gay.)
But, still, perpetuating stereotypes on TV hardly does that group any favors in being accepted and probably one of the bigger problems most homophobes have is the flamboyance of some gay men.

You know what would make for a good TV series that'd probably do a lot of good work for the LGBT society, specifically the "T" part of that. A drama series that follows a transgendered man transitioning to a woman. More or less following her from the day she starts to transition, through the processes and turmoils of telling the family, getting the early surgeries done, the year living en-fem, The Operation and maybe a final season living fully as a female. Love story and dealing with telling boyfriends, finally one accepting, telling the family, dealing with work and legal issues.
It'd probably be an interesting series. (And to be done right probably one that'd have to be done on premium cable.)
Of course, would you hire an actor who'd have to be able to mostly pass as female as the series wore on, or a female who could pass for a male in the early stages of transition. Or, ideally, find an actor transitioning themselves and have the story more or less follow their real-world procedures.
Anyone have a few million dollars they want to lend me so I can produce this series and pitch it?
I'll start writing the first 13 episodes right now.
It probably would help if the stupidity was funny, didn't degrade sexes to extreme stereotypes (the women on the show were extremely shallow) and the underlying premise was at least partly believable. (The men in the show couldn't reasonably pass for even ugly women.) Oh, and that it didn't offend an entire group of people.
There's vast differences between a sit-com that simply funny for being dumb, and a dumb sitcom that's not funny.
Making the show's run at least twice as long as it should have been.

This piece of shit never should've made it past the pitch stage. The fact that a pilot was made and greenlight to series is mindboggling.
I'm often in the camp with those who complain about "snap cancellations" of series because I agree - if networks of yesteryear had felt the same way, Cheers would never have survived. Nor would the original Star Trek. Or many other shows.
Work It, however, is an exception. That show had no redeeming value, no chance of gaining any sort of cult following, and it had the worst advance word of mouth I have ever encountered for an American TV series (I do not exaggerate).
Killing it fast was the right thing to do (though cancelling it before broadcast would have been better), and if I were the head of ABC I'd be launching an investigation into why this show was given the greenlight to begin with. Especially since you have to remember that for this show to get past the pilot and go into production as a series, that means other shows had to be rejected. Was the next Cheers or Friends among the shows rejected so that this could live? Or was this the best of a horrid bunch (which should make ABC very worried)?
And just for the record, I don't give a s*it about any politically correct concerns about subject matter or what have you. But this thing truly was unsaveable.

Surborgatory and Modern Family go together well, same with Crougar Town (such a bad name) and Happy Endings. ABC needs more comedy pairs and just do comedy two days a week.

Or the days when self appointed advocate groups tried to shove their agenda down the throats of viewers, when they don't like something.
I have to admit I didn't watch it because either something else was on I liked or it didn't have a actor(s) I didn't recognize so It didn't capture my interest.
