Worf: Black Chinese American

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet, haha.

As featured on the Colbert Report: Stephen's Ethnic Minute.

"Before any of you get offended and send letters off to the FCC, or the NAACP, or the Asian Media Watch, or the Federation Council [c/o United Federation of Planets, San Francisco, USA] let me just say that I think a strong case can be made that Lieutenant Worf is a Black Chinese American."

OMG, I almost died laughing last night. Especially when the audience hollered Ka'Pla! (or however it's spelled).

For anyone who missed it, repeats at 8:30 EST on the comedy network tonight.

Not just Jews. Belorussian Jews. ;)

I thought Klingons were partly inspired by the Japanese samurai.

Definitely. Just look at their costumes, and all that vaguely bushido honour talk. The TNG-on Klingons are a mishmash of Japanese and Viking influences.

Course, the pre-TMP Klingons have really more of a Chinese/Russian vibe.

So Colbert can make a case for Worf being a Black Japanese American Samurai Viking, but Black Chinese American is pushing it. ;)

If the video is not working for you, try the main Colbert page. It is currently listed as the second video (look for "Stephen's Ethnic Minute").

Also, you can try this alternate link.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure whoever went to Wikipedia or Memory Alpha for the list of Worf's accomplishments meant first Klingon Starfleet officer, not just THE first Starfleet officer...haha, can't be a Trekkie without the nitpicking.

Black Japanese American Samurai Viking Jolly Space Pirates!

Worf was just an unusually stick-in-the-mud Klingon. Martok is more the exemplar.

A Proud day for Black-Chinese-Russian-Klingon Federation citizens everywhere.

/Ok, well that is just Worf, but good job!

Since Colbert has no writers - he must be a TNG fan to know all this stuff about Worf! B-)

Stephen Colbert gets paid to eat peanut butter and ice cream on the air?

Lucky sod.
