Wonder Woman headed to the small screen

Saw a body painted Wonder Woman costume on that playboy cover a few years back. Wasn't too impressed with her.
I think you're referring to Tiffany Fallon. Just do a search for tiffany fallon wonder woman.

You mean this little lady?

To paraphrase Shania Twain she impresses me a WHOLE LOT!

As for Lois, Teri Hatcher will always be my favourite

Serious question?

Origin or no origin?

Arriving in mans world is one way to go about but establishing during the credits that she's been in mans world for 10 years fighting the good fight and that she is regaled as a hero would save time and spare a lot of crunch when you have to consider that the first Spider-Man movie needed to take place across the space of about 4 years, which it possibly didn't.

Oh, the origin's sure to play in one way or another, but since it's a series you have lots of room to play with that. I imagine things would start with Diana already in place in the outer world (please let the Amazons not use any "Man's World", "Patriarch's World" college Gender Studies jargon) so that her appearance is a mystery to be slowly filled in. I think it'd be an utter drag to tell her story in a linear fashion.

For the sake of argument, a more obvious choice of producer for this project might have been J Michael Stracsynski. Experienced with tv fantasy/ sci-fi projects, has written WW comics (with a controversial new outfit) and has recently had much acclaim as a movie scripter (Changeling).

Having said that, Kelley is (was?) married to one of the best even onscreen superheroines, namely Michelle Pfeiffer, so maybe that's gotta be worth something!

But have you read his comic?

It makes no fucking sense and seems to be set in a parrallel universe or the future or... This is not a story about the earth One Diana, but I am a few issues behind, because it sucks.

In the last issue I did read, she took that cute (90s) tiny clubbing jacket off and it seems that she has leather straps wound around her arms like some sort of BDSM Mistress costume and this is not the most outrageously funny part to her NEW costume which I did not notice before in the early publicity releases:

The Eagle. Her Icon. her Emblem. Her symbol of power.

It's stamped onto her uniforms crotch.

We are supposed to believe symbolically that her vagina is a screaming attacking bird of prey?

We are.

But yes, any one that could write Jessica Fletcher, should be able to write Princess Diana of Themiscrya... In theory.

^The eagle is on her belt, a bit below her navel. Unless the in-book artist is drawing it radically differently than the design in the publicity images.

What do you mean, "symbolically"?

The only condition more horrifying than Vagina Dentata is Vagina-With-a-Fucking-Giant-Bird-Attached!

You COULD argue that's the source of all female power, to give pleasure and create life?

What I want to see in a new WW series;
1. Recurring roles for Lynda, Lyle and maybe Debra Winger
2. Nazis
3. A scene where someone walks into her invisible plane and bumps their head.
4. A scene where WW's own lasso of truth is used against her and she confesses some embarrassing deep dark desires
5. A scene where someone comments on Steve Trevor's propensity to get knocked out
6. An ep where she loses her ability to transform into WW and has to solve the case as Diana Prince
7. An ep where we meet her evil double who dresses in an black S&M version of the WW costume (and has a whip;))
8. Underwater, skateboarding and motorcycling versions of the outfit
9. A musical
10. An evil(?) Amazon who wants women to take over the world and rule it as a matriarchy
11. Some form of Xena/Gabby reference
12. A scene where WW goes to a bordello/stripclub and everyone assumes she's a hooker/stripper in a WW outfit. As she leaves she walks past a real hooker/stripper in a copy of her costume

Woman didn't make Wonder Woman. She's a child of magic and one of ancient legends worst bastards. You could argue that Hippolyta's wish and yearning created Diana, but her reproductive system certainly didn't.

Liberal woman's studies (taken to extremes) is as gouche as one of those mens circle groups (period) with the sweating and the talking stick.

That's a marvellous list Saturn5. Only thing I would add is an even herolesser episode where Steve and or Etta have to save the day with out even Diana showing up at the last minute or pulling strings fromthe background... There was an episode of (60s) batman where batman and Robin were "away" and it looked almost as if Chief O'hara and Comissioner Gordon had to save the day themselves. I couldn't believe how wet that made me. Saddly, 10 minutes in, Burt and Adam showed up and it was business as usual.

The first issue explains that it's the result of someone changing time, it is the 'proper' Diana.

Having said that, the story is awful and both sucks and blows.

i want Jennifer love Hewitt as wonder women she so hot plus she had a bopp job done to her so could get the part she mush really want that part lol!:)

Made of clay, she is direct from the womb of Gaia, the Earth Mother. This is made quite explicit in several stories.

PS - who is the ancient legend's worst bastard you're refering to?

Zeus I thought.

Though apparently that is wrong.

It was the goddesses that answered Hipplyta's request for child.

They used the foetus Hippolyta was carrying when she was murdered according to Greg potter in 1987.

Silly me for thinking Zeus wore the pants on Olympus when it was his son Ares who in Wonder Woman 136 was announced as Hippolytas father but my googling can't figure out if that means he screwed a cavewoman or he added his mojo to the birthing spell, but that still makes Wondergirl Hippolyta's Aunt.

Besides it's very white trash to be the father of your own grand daughter.

Cloris Leachman!!!???

Yeah, I think part of the reason her birth is structured the way it is is so that basically no male had any part in her creation. Diana is completely female-generated - Hippolyta's desire, the Goddesses' power, Gaia's substance.

I've been dreading some one bringing this up.

She is magnificently attractive but I have to be afraid that she allowed Ghost whisperer to go so long because she must have thought it was a good show. You can't have that sort of value system in the head of some one who is eventually, if not immediately going to get a producer credit.

God help us if she brings along with her any of her friends form the ghost whisperer writing staff because they're buddies that that sort of writing would be allowed to perpetuate into a new program I might not be able to stop myself from watching.

...

I'm a little more impressed by that dark haired spook from the Event because she's shooting cops now rather than just saying how narly the waves are... but she has a job. Though, the event is not that great especially if some one is expectign it to get Losrt numbers picking up that audience which is exaclty what it looks like the target audience is.

I was prompted to rewatch the series on DVD. A lot of fun but VERY camp, dated computers and you worry that Lyle will suffer polyester poisoning. Still, Lynda is the most beautiful woman EVER! 2 and 3 infinitely better than 1, the costume a huge improvement if nothing else.
Actually dealt with some pretty heavy issues, terrorism, biological warfare, the Cold War, nuclear power/proliferation, the shameful internment of the Japanese Americans during WW2 (one of the first shows to deal with that, preceeding Magnum). The best ep is the last, the Phantom of the Rollercoaster dealing with a traumatized Vietnam veteran deformed by napalm, not just a kids show.

Inspired by my rewatch, a few more things I'd like to see if there's a new series;

1. An ep where she visits a sci-fi convention, accidentally enters a WW lookalike contest and is disappointed at coming 3rd (a la Elvis and Charlie Chaplin). Be cool if they could get DS9's Rene Auberjois to guest as he did in a similar ep in the 70s.

2. An ep where WW turns evil and the Diana Prince side of her personality breaks away to fight her (and yes I've been watching Superman 3)

3. An ep where she get's pregnant. Even Lynda Carter comments that she's lacking children in her life as indeed all the Amazons do

4. Diana should have a gay male friend/neighbour who's a huge WW fan, think Jack from Will&Grace

5. Steve Trevor should go to Paradise Island and get mobbed Beatlemania style by hordes of man-deprived Amazons (think Xander in the Buffy ep BBB)

6. Someone should mock her 'granny pants' and persuade her to try on patriotic thongs instead.

7. Diana should lose her glasses and worry people will recognise her but no one does

8. A few sequals to the 70s eps. Maybe Gault's brain is still kicking around looking for a body? How about a sequal to the 'Fine Art of Crime' where she gets turned into a statue again but gets released when some crazed WW fan steals the bracelet off the WW 'mannequin' on display. What happened to the fake robot WW she left knocked out on the floor in The Deadly Toys? (although if you could make a convincing fake robot WW you'd wonder why you needed to bother with crime, just sell them?). Love to meet the little girl with superpowers again all grown up plus 'The boy who knew her secret' again

9. An ep where Steve get's her superpowers (as was rumoured for Buffy/Xander)

10. Cameos from other DC superheros and especially villains, too often in the 70s show she's up against just some bland generic criminal in a bad suit

11. We see her returning to Paradise Island after WW2 and the 70s

12. Someone mocks her outift telling her 'The 4th of July is over honey'

Anyone else any ideas?

I'd rather they didn't go the "Diana Prince" secret identity route. I know that's made a comeback in the comics, but secret identities are just so routine. One of the things that made Wonder Woman a distinctive character in her post-Crisis incarnation was that she didn't have a secret identity -- she was just Princess Diana of Themyscira, an ambassador, educator, and celebrity as well as a champion. I'd like to see a series that emulated Phil Jimenez's or Greg Rucka's tenure on the series, particularly the West Wing flavor of Rucka's handling of her ambassadorial work, her staff, etc. It would be a nice departure from the cliched dual-identity approach to a superhero tale.
