I tend not to find them all too impressive, even the ones that are generally lauded as impressive. I'm weird that way.

Not too surprising. There are many things that annoy me about Hollywood but there are some gems. ;)

I must say I found this video hilariously bad. The parts without the Stones were ok but their rockstar antics made me laugh.

Coming from a Beatles/McCartney fan. :p

I love the Stones. I can't help it. I just do.

I'm firmly in the Stones camp. I think their old songs still sound great today (Paint it black!). Whereas the Beatles sound so dated in comparison. They're just. so. fucking. dull.
But meh, I've always preferred rock over pop so that's probably a main point.

Emilia, I was aware of the analysis, but thanks for giving me a reason to re-read it after some years. It is really incredibly layered. Dylan is a master of saying so much with saying so little. His songs give me goosebumps.

Well, about Angelina Jolie, he would make a good Bob Dylan. I mean, if Cate Blanchett could do it, why not her? ;)

I may not like everything Angelina has done, but for the most part her films were usually good.
As a director....well, she's just getting started.
I don't feel it's my place to judge her personal life. From what I've seen though, it seems she's a good mom to the kids. That's the most important thing really, isn't it?

I'm completely biased because I just love her.

Even in the magnificently awful Hackers she camped it up well. I loved Mr and Mrs Smith and Salt. Some of her other stuff not so much. Wanted was complete rubbish.

So, what do people think are Angelina Jolie's best movies?

Movies she's best in: Salt, Girl Interrupted, Changeling, Gia.

Movies she's just fun in: Mr & Mrs Smith, Sky Captain.

But I turned The Tourist off third way in despite liking both leads. Surprised when going through filmography that she doesn't seem to have made as many films as I expected. Perhaps because her life doesn't revolve solely around movies?

I noticed that too, and in a lot of them she's not THE star, she seems to be part of the supporting cast a lot of the time.

I've only seen Alexander (by mistake, obviously) and Changeling (only becasue that's a Clint Eastwood movie). I can't really "judge" her as an actress but she was good in Changeling.

I'm surprised to see so many people state they haven't seen many of her movies. I've never been a huge fan but somehow I seem to have watched most of her films.

Which would you recommend - sounds like Changeling's pretty popular?

I love Mr. And Mrs. Smith for the most part. It's the kind of movie I'll leave on if I come across it. As for the woman herself, I feel some small dislike for her but I suspect it's mostly jealousy! I think she's a great actress, a wonderful humanitarian, and pretty in a way that's entirely her own. It would be awesome to do the kind of work that she does.

I like a lot of her films, 'Life of Something Like It' is one of my favorites. The scene where her boyfriend is looking at the school picture in disbelief that it is her and she replicates the smile is one I really liked. Her face delivered a great sense of disappointment in the life she had come to in that moment.

Do you think the fact that her beau is the costar helps Mr. and Mrs. Smith?

He was married to someone else when they shot that film. It was during the shooting that they fell in love, so I think you could say the chemistry was explosive. She had adopted 3 kids when they met and she said she had never considered having any of her own until Brad suggested it. Now she has 3 of her own too. Apparently they all want them to get married and since the kids want it, I think they're planning it. I think they must be very good parents, not that that sets her apart from anyone else; just the way they manage it all so elegantly.

This. Plus it's such a great War Of The Roses-style concept. The kitchen shoot-out is hilarious and beautifully staged.

I watched Mr & Mrs Smith last night on the basis of recommendations made here.

I enjoyed it, I found their reactions when they realised what was going on a little hard to believe, possibly because they didn't do a great job of establishing the nature of their relationship after 6 years of marriage. But then the whole concept is absurd anyway.

Once the action starts, it is very funny and gripping.

The argument in the car is hilarious. The bit when she finds out hubby was previously married is great.

Jane Smith: What's her name and social security number?
John Smith: No, you're not gonna kill her.
