Sorry to have been behind the game on this, work commitments have kept me away from a computer without forum blocking internet access.
Contrary to the reports we have all seen, Zara currently does NOT have her passport back and has NOT been told she is free to leave.
I am in a position at the time of typing to be categorical on this and contradict the media, as yet it is unclear where their information came from.

Well, she most certainly is back now, albeit fragile. Last night's planned fundraiser went ahead anyway with proceeds going to Rape Crisis.
It's hard I feel not to see this "consensual" explanation by the UAE as a cheap way of backing out under public opinion which could be damaging to their tourist resort status.

One may hope that the seeming rapidity is reflective of a sea change in the way the UAE is dealing with these cases.
They may still view women as second class citizens or even objects but they are aware that other countries do not, other countries whose citizens represent a massive source of revenue to their economy.

I don't understand why it's such a popular destination? A lot of places have nice weather, a lot of places aren't as dodgy as there. Isn't all ridiculously OTT "extravagant" too. Full of richies in their shiny yellow sports cars and Hummers. No thanks. I would honestly hate it.
If you think that is bad there are 31 states in the U.S. where the paternal rapists are allowed to sue for custody and visitation rights. Not only are these states saying that rape is legal, if you don't get caught, if the paternal rapist sues they have the right to further invade the woman's home and continue to rape her years to come regarding her mind and soul if not her body.
