There I said it; I am tired of old trekkers complaining about this amzaing film

Here are some of their complains;

Omg this is not star trek

Omg spock is not suppose to be in love

Omg why is there an alternate reality

Omg James Kirk cant fight worth a darn (okay maybe this is true)

Omg I dont understand the whole purpose of red matter

Omg how dare they destroy Vulcan
and lots more

This movie did wonders for the franchise not only was the film well received by film critics, it created a whole new generation of fans, it put the star wars prequels to shame (minus revenge of the sith however ST 09 is still better), it made lots of cash and won an Oscar

Old trekkers just need to just go away and let my generation enjoy star trek FOR THE GREATNES IT TRULY IS.

Is this for real? Or maybe some kind of joke? Barring the fallacy that for some reason "old trekkers" don't like the new film, how is it possible that they are not letting your generation enjoy it? Sometimes this board is full of crazy, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.

I am new around here... So while this may be old hat to a lot of you, it's complete insanity to me, heheheh.

For the record; I really love the new Star Trek film and the original Star Trek series. I feel that the two are not mutually exclusive.

Seriously though. People gonna whine. Usually the newest Trek is the most different and the target for attack. If it's good enough, it'll be accepted eventually. I remember when it was all about TNG vs TOS, but those camps eventually made peace(mostly) I don't like a lot of things about ST11, but I'm still hoping ST12 is awesome. If it's not then hey, old fans can whine and hope that TPTB realize there is a market(albeit smaller) for old style Trek.

P.S. It isn't always generational. I'm only 26 and am (probably) the same generation as many ST11 fans.
