What an absolute turd. You could cut the first 35 minutes and lose absolutely nothing. Bringing back the fucking Space Babies was horrifying, especially since there is apparently something "special" about the brat. It also sucks to not have a second of the real Belinda in the episode, but we get a bunch of the generic blonde white girl doing nothing of value.

I can't wait to see how RTD fucks up Omega, and Susan if she actually shows up (that plot thread was completely absent this episode). RTD is known for lackluster finales, but this is bad even by those standards.

He was yelling that Poppy is real. Implying the rest of it wasn’t. Matrix? Or bad line? Who knows.

Only if she’s the Rani’s daughter I reckon. One way or another. Maybe Mrs Flood incarnation is more romantically/maternal inclined.
Not necessarily — remember River Song didn’t even have any Time Lord parents, but
got regeneration ability anyway from being conceived in the TARDIS in transit
. Plus, however much the series and fandom avoid it, the old TV movie had
the Doctor being half-human
. So there are ways…

A lot of exposition but that is often the way with the first part of a double episode, especially a finale. And I’m always a sucker for a parallel universe type scenario. But it did feel like I’d missed something as to how the Doctor and Belinda got to this position. Did I miss a post-credits scene last week?

Also, I thought that the double part finale was going out together this week, but clearly not.

It was OK. Felt like a lot of set up to get you excited for next week.

So I'm putting my chips on Poppy being the timeless child.

This episode talked a lot about doubt.

I'd like to think that RTD is going to resolve all the threads he's been spinning since he returned, plus the material from past eras he's brought in.

I'd like to think that. But I have doubts. He's got all this gods business and all this altered reality business to resolve, so he brings in several big new story elements near the end?

I thought it was quite good. Yes mostly set up, as these things tend to be. Played with a few New Who tropes. John Smith shows up. (Love it when the Doctor isn't the Doctor.) Supporting Actors get a chance to play variations of their characters. A Companion outside of the "reset". World ending threat and the Doctor in peril. Some social commentary. ( with a slightly heavy hand). Wish World itself has some Black Mirror vibes and a touch of Mid-Century Modern. Enjoying Archie as the Rani. Up thread some called her a "Disney Witch". Having just rewatched "The Mark of the Rani" that's always been true. Very Wicked Queen/Maleficent vibes. The Rani even disguises herself an a crone in "The Mark of the Rani." I also liked that the Rani still enjoys transforming hapless humans into plants and animals.

I gave this one a 7. It was a fairly typical alternate universe type story. Oh look at this weird stuff. It filled the episode's time but most of it wasn't moving the plot forward. Just window dressing.

As I reflect more, there's actually a few negatives, mainly this is another one where everyone dies at the end. Repetitive.

The idea of an alternate reality can be both fun and effective but this one didn't really work. It was mostly there to be weird and pass time. The Doctor didn't have agency. And then the plot was revealed via exposition (even though the Rani said it wasn't).

So, the baby is the new god of wishes. And we're also expecting Omega. So is the trinity actually Omega, Wish God, and Rani? No Conrad?

A lot rides on the conclusion. But as I reflect, this extended setup, well, it might actually only deserve a 6. A meh. A visually nice looking episode but full of nothing other than setting up a few plot points at the end.

And there's sure a lot to wrap up in a single episode. Susan? Omega?

I'm wondering if Conrad actually supports the Trinity, like the Dobson Rani, but isn't part of it. He doesn't seem to have much power himself separate from the baby. And his role seems to be to maintain the Wish World, which is a disposable part of the plan, as we see at the end.

Will he be disposed of too or does the God Baby need a caretaker?

I thought it was pretty good.
All of the Wish World stuff was pretty good, and while her characterization doesn't entirely fit with her earlier appeances, I did like her.
And the fact that Conrad is just being used by The Rani to further her scheme, and nothing more than that was a nice way to handle him. I prefer that over him being the mastermind or an equal coconspirator with the Rani.
I'm curious how exactly they're going to pull everything together next week.
