Wireless Keyboards

Okay... I am hoping someone can shed some light on this, because this is something I have noticed, and it kind of irks me.

Recently, I upgraded to my first wireless keyboard, and I love being wireless. BUT... for some stupid reason, my wireless keyboard, as well as EVERY other wireless keyboard I have seen in stores, does NOT have a Caps Lock indicator light!!!

I get so frustrated, when I am typing something, and I don't know if Caps is still on or not, and I have to go back, and re-type in lower-case. And it's infuriating to type an IM and hit send, only to look up and see that what you typed was in all caps, and then you have to apologize to the person you just IM'd, lol.

So my question is one, why? Why no Caps Lock indicator light? I realize that wireless keyboards are battery-powered, but are you really telling me that a little Caps Lock light is THAT big of a drain on the battery? I just don't see how this can be, especially if it's an LED light.

Two, IS there any brand/model of wireless keyboard that DOES have a Caps Lock indicator light?

so of them have the light on the receiver unit (I've seen it on some of the logitechs).

I don't think anyone has really noticed it's missing after all it for many years it's been tucked away in the top right hand corner of the keyboard along with the num lock light and if you have something on your desk it's that covers the light you're not really going to see it.

im guessing its to not drain the battery, I know my number lock is always on.

I saw a solar powered one I quite like but I would like a similar mouse to go with.

I had a crappy Microsoft wireless set and that had it on the receiver. I'm happily backed in wired country with a Razer keyboard, but the damned this swapped the position of the Num Lock and Caps Lock indicators for seemingly no reason other than to annoy me.

I don't really look at those lights though. I mean, when you're typing, aren't you supposed to be reading it as it appears on the screen? Unless I'm typing into a masked password box, I'll realize Caps Lock is on before sending an IM.

I have three or four wireless keyboards. Not to mention the dual set i use in school. And every single one has a CL and NL light. Besides there is a popup window in seven and vista that notifies you anyway.

Well unless you are touch typing, where you are actually looking at the thing you are typing up.

Yeah, I look at the keys while I type, and then look to the monitor to proof what I just wrote.

Well, I've done a Google search, and have found ONE wireless keyboard with a Caps Lock indicator light, but unfortunately, it's some no-name Chinese brand, and the site is a global wholesaler, so there is no individual price. I also found via this search, that apparently many other people are in the same position as myself... wanting a wireless keyboard with a Caps Lock light.

I'd REALLY like to avoid buying Apple stuff, because I don't care for their product design when it comes to keyboards and mice... I want a full-size keyboard, with tangible keys, and a mouse I can really grip and feel in my hands, so when it comes to peripherals, I tend to avoid Apple whenever possible, lol.

I'll keep looking.

The things I type up are in my brain. What am I, a scanner?

But come on people, if you're looking at your hands while typing then you're doing it wrong! Touch typing isn't that difficult a skill to learn, and it's very useful.

Hell, I don't even have bloody letters on my keyboard.

Nifty little security system, especially with Svorak :techman:

Svorak? Never heard of that one, but looks like it's similar to Dvorak.

Dvorak would've been cool to learn, but since 99.9 percent of keyboards out there are Qwerty, it seemed reasonable to stick with it.

Svorak is an acronym for Swedish Dvorak (Swe: Svensk Dvorak). Its basically Dvorak with the lestters Å, Ä, and Ö.

Maybe you need the bit of software talked about in this thread:

:D

I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard, too, and I don't bother about the missing lights. It does have software you can install which pops up a little notification near the system tray whenever you toggle one of the lock keys. I normally don't have that running but it's available.

You could try this program: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/show-keyboard-leds-in-windows-system-tray/

Thank you! I downloaded and installed the program and it works great! It even tells me in a red flag that my Caps Lock is ON, lol... so this is a good solution.

I have a Logitech K800 Backlit wireless keyboard. It has a caps lock indicator. It'll go a couple of weeks before it needs to be recharged of the usb cable.
