Endeavour arrives on orbit at the planet Cachalot:

Seeing as how the last pic was not a rendered shot, I decided to do one more. In this one, USS Endeavour departs the frozen world Tran-Ky-Ky, after assisting in the investigation of an explosion aboard a visiting transport.

Well, if you're waiting for blueprints of the TMP version, they're already available, complete with deck-by-deck plans and details at the URL in my signature below.

Very good!:techman:

If you're waiting for a 3D model thereof, that'll be a few months down the road at minimum... ;-)

Regardless, thank you very much for the compliments!

Not a problem, just take your time. ;) As you know, sometimes my wips takes years instead of months (not enough refs or skills, lazyness, no time or, no motivation). Surelly I can wait. :)

She is coming out very nicely. If not for the fact that there was already an Explorer class, I probably would have ousted the Constitution-class Endeavours in favor for this one by now.

Oh, the TOS edition of the Endeavour is not Explorer class. It's the Cygnus class. It's the TMP-era refit that is Explorer class. From the official ship's history:
"USS Endeavour, NCC-1768, began life as a MK-VIIB CYGNUS class scout.

"She has served the Federation for over a quarter century. Construction of Endeavour was authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of 2241. Her registry number had originally been assigned to the hull of the Constitution-class starship project USS Ketoi. That project, however, was one of a number of that class which were cancelled in favor of the leading-edge design of the Explorer-class development project. Thus, Endeavour was designated NCC-1768. She was built under the supervision of Star Fleet Division at the San Francisco Naval Yards, Earth Station Joshua. Her keel was 'laid' in the orbital shipyards May 12, 2246. She was launched two years, four months later on November 15, 2248.

"After final construction and inspections were completed, she was commissioned July 6, 2249. Following spaceworthiness trials, Endeavour took her shakedown cruise for three months beginning September 4, 2250. She was then placed on line duty and began her first 5-year mission March 31, 2251."

- excerpted from "History of the Name Endeavour," in the USS Endeavour Crew Orientation manual (a work-in-progress)

Probably more info than you really wanted, but I'm kinda OCD that way... ;-)

Actually, this information is very useful to me, especially because I'm sort of OC myself. That is why I bring up these points.

By the Cygnus class, I'm guessing you mean the Hermes variant.

This could actually work out very well, because of the Explorer class were actually based off of the Cygnus class, that would actually make her a subclass of the Saladin class, and because subclass names can be used more than once since they aren't the same as actual class names, this wouldn't contradict the existence of another very good design that I found on the Internet.

There is a Constitution class Explorer, but she gets destroyed in 2292 (She is from the video games New Worlds, so she isn't exactly just fanon), so perhaps your Explorer gets built in 2293 to replace the Constitution class vessel, and the refit for the Endeavour and her sisters can happen around the same time, which might make sense considering that the Endeavour is supposed to be retrofitted in the 2250s, about a decade (or 3, depending on if you use Okuda's version of the timeline or not) after the Constitution class was launched, so they get refit later as well. Perhaps a Phase II type version could exist in between that time, which has a different sub-class name that won't contradict any known ships.

All that is left is what the subclass name for the Endeavour would be, since Starfleet would likely do so similar to how the Cygnus is a subclass of the Hermes (which in turn is a subclass for the Saladin). It is likely that the first vessel to be constructed to those specifications would receive that honor, so if the Endeavour were the first, that would mean she is an Endeavour sub-class.

BTW, the K-7 mesh in that last render was by Georg Angelakis, downloaded from Foundation3D.com
