WIP - Re-Atum

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
This is a ship I made this month. More futuristic then anything, called Re-Atum (Egyptian sun god). This is the basic 2d design of the ship.

The first profile image doesn't look too promissing to me- though the top does. That said, I'm looking forward to see the model. Get back to work, Mister!

Let you see a bit more. This is how the engine were draw and were suppose to be...I must say I am not please with the back part. It's way too odd.

kind of reminds me of the aventine from the side. but i'm guessing this isnt a federation vessel at all, right? looks great otherwise
what are you using anyway? maya, blender?

3dsmax for modelling. C4D for texturing.

I had the day off today, so i made a couple of things and finished the global shape of the engines and their supports.
I really like the result this time.

I get better at it. In the past I would have tried to do this complex form out of several various shapes and splines. Now, I make one square box and I extrude and manipulate it, so it fit the final result. I had Nurb effect to give it a smooth edge and shape. Overall it simpler but surely more efficient and elegant. And in general the final result is closer to the original idea with those methods.

I also learn in 3dsmax how to merge a spline into a shape. So now it will be easier to make panels and detailling.

The blue thing is Mental Ray daylight render in 3dsmax. Not especially interesting...

Thanks. I am a bit afraid I won't be able to put the levels of details that I want, because the model is quite intricate. That's why I am doing this in terms of levels (in my mind at least). I do a basic panel, and if it goes well I will do another one. So far, so good...

This is the command deck. It's basically a 2 floor deck with front windows. I decided against a top window, because it structurally breaks the model in that area...didn't find a solution. I am not sure I am going as far as modeling those decks, maybe one day...In terms of height, not sure it's in proportion, but I was tired of manipulating that area. It should be close tho...

I agree dubeau that looks fantastic I wish I had those programs, and the time to learn them since mother died, but I've got to be practical, and not use my funds for non-bill paying purchases since my car insurance is coming up,and my cable bill is at the end of the month leaves me little room for pleasure purchases.
