(Seriously this time) Here's a vaguely similar design I always thought made a good pre-TOS starship... the old Estes kit U.S.S. Atlantis: (note the tube/circle motif)

It's kinda neat, but I the only reason I wouldn't model the top one was because they wanted to steer clear of traditional rocket ship type designs, and I tend to agree.

Looks like a bloody fun rocket though!

oh- and does anyone else get multiple pop up ads every time they change the page on Trek BBS?
