WIP Excelsior JJverse

Worked on the bridge section. Tried a few shape, but this is the one a like with a dome shape. The middle part is in a rough state for the moment.

Thanks for the goods words. Worked a lot on the bridge sections. Now I am trying to fix the neck...sigh. There was a lot of polygon corruption, so I am trying to remodel it in another way.

I've always imagined that the damage done by the Narada's incursion would be kind of "absorbed" over time, like a pebble dropped in water creating ripples that dissipate. In my view, the wartime footing that Nero precipitated will fade, as will the influence of technology from the future. To that end, I can imagine fewer and fewer Ryan Church design elements making their way forward until we eventually converge back with the prime universe. How long that should take is a matter for another discussion, but my subjective opinion for this thread is that dubeau's Excelsior design is heading in the right direction.

Finish fixing a lot of problems around the neck area and added a bit more to it

The most recent JJTrek comic story, "The Q Gambit," (set in the DS9 era) would seem to agree with you. The Defiant features in part 2 of that story, and it's identical to the Prime Universe version.

So the JJ-verse's Enterprise-B would be a slightly modified version of your design, the Enterprise-C would be Andrew Probert's original version, and we most likely sync back up with the Enterprise-D. Ironically, each Enterprise would be about the same size (or getting slightly smaller) until we reach Picard's time.

I would thing some designs would be changed, not a major design change but more adjustement to make them feel different in a way. Still haven't think about texture yet...and I would think it would be somewhere between Enterprise JJ and Excelsior textures. But all in due time...

Working on the back part. Find a nice shape to it. I was thinking putting an arboretum there.

I'm not liking the stubby fantail. But I do like what you've done with the neck.

Worked on the bottom saucer area quite a bit. I decided a bit more modern style, but still in the spirit of the original.

TRying to do the array thing. Quite difficult. I had to redo it twice to be able to chamfer, and cut it by hand, and merge the back into a round shape. Still some quirks on the polygons I have to fix.

excel36.jpg

Finished the array thing. I tried to do greeble in that area, but it only messes up the model. So i decided with a simple paneling. I brought back the array from The Conviction and simplified it.

worked on the saucer. Made the windows, and the cutout panels. I did the sensors to be a half cylinder, instead of a pointy triangle. Repair some problems. I need to add the yellow things that goes around the bridge (No idea what it is).

Well...I made the turrets (More like a small red dome) and there will be a phaser strips too. Both of them. But the phaser would be new and less powerful, like a testing prototype phase. I have also done the panels cut on the saucer. OOups, I saw a problem with the symetry...

A total of 16 phaser banks for the saucer alone! Good! God!!

I love it!!!

But don't think that not giving the engineering hull phaser banks will be acceptable! I want that to be armed too!

I began testing and working on the two main texture. More because I was bored at work at the end of the day.
I tried to put it around the colors of JJA ships...but I like a slight grey/blue ship.

And finally with the specular color levels

So are we still calling them phaser banks? They're more like turrets in nuTrek, aren't they?

Ball turrets are called Phaser Banks. Phaser strips are called Phaser Arrays.

Though they have been used interchangeably...
