WIP - BBS-3777 LONG-RANGE STARLINER

With a big enough engine, *anything* can be made to fly!
(< Aerospace Engineer)

Case in point: The F-4 Phantom II.

I had no idea that Pan Am went out of business. Still, it is good to see that they are still around in the 23rd Century.

And Fedex and UPS.

Actually, they're still in business...as a railway company:

I hope they one day take to the skies again...

Well, I'm no expert in the field of aviation, but I don't think they're gonna get these things too far off the ground.

:)

You've never seen Galaxy Express 9999?

This whole concept looks awesome.
1. What are you using?
2. Have you done the internals as well?
3. This seems like TOS or ENT era; is there a TNG or VOY version?

1. NewTek LightWave 3D v10

2. Not yet. I'm mulling that over currently. They should be done within a month. Check the Facebook page listed below for updates.

3. It's intended to be a "Lost Years" era design, but could really fit into any era.

Thanks for the kudos!

I lean towards it to, especially when it comes to ship designs. I just can't get into the organic style of tng.

even though organics are seemingly superior in organization, structure, and other facets once we are smart enough to understand them >.> I personally find the flowing/aerodynamic feel excelent but disapprove of how... off-center the -D, and most ST ships feel.

Whats your take on Voyager then? I mean, its aerodynamic/organic but lacks that off-center look from the -D

I think that Voyager is one of the most beautiful designs overall ever conceived for Trek. I can pick a few nits with the details, but overall, she's just lovely.

It's primarily 1701-D that irks me so much.

Agreed. It is only displaced by the Sovereign class in terms of beauty and the Defiant in terms of practicality. What would a Lost Years version of the Defiant look like?

Indeed. Or you could assist me with my WIP (its a few threads below this one) I was giving your spaceplane some thought and it occured to me that you could potentially pullitems from 2001 SO. Compatable tech and all that.

Hmmm...I may have to cogitate on that one for a while. One more design to add to my list, perhaps?

Ooh, that's an interesting idea. There is already a TOS version of the Defiant called the Knight class, so going from there, there should also be a refit-era version, an Excelsior/early Lost-era class, and a Lost-era version would likely share characteristics with the Ambassador class.

I like to think about class lineages/evolutions on many an occasion, though I have yet to do anything really meaningful with those thoughts, with the exception of the PT Cruiser lineage, but those sketches aren't really complete.

but it talked! - that reminds me, when can Trek ships get cool A.I.s? may i ref. Andromeda Ascendant.

EMH/ECH Mk. III anyone?

Who's to say the present computers aren't AI, in a certain sense?

Sure, the later computers were a bit dumb, but the TOS Enterprise seemed to have developed a personality, and was capable of reaching absolutley wild conclusions.

They're no Rommie or Cortana, that's for sure.
