WiP Alaska-Class...

Started some work on this today:
Alaska-Test-01.jpg

This is just a first pass, to see how the proportions work and some details, and structure redesigns. I believe I may be adding my phaser rails on the saucer (kinda like a precursor to the phaser strips, but designed as the phasers would ride a rail system that allowed them to be repositioned to bring to bare more firepower where needed).

Damn that looks good, and it is fun to see you do orthographics of a relatively mainstream design like that. I am used to seeing your beautiful color sketches of designs that push the conceptual envelope where none of us have gone before.

Nice start. :mallory:
Thanks bro.

Thanks bro. I can go more advanced, but I want to try this first. I'll try not to let you guys down.
Also, I just tweaked the proportions a bit and re thinking some details:

Oh, so you guys want the mega phasers?, or would you want me to design something different? I was thinking of adding the mega phasers to the sides of the deflector housing, for the one on the hull, but on the saucer I was thinking of something like the FASA Thufir with a wing-like structure...

I'm down with the phaser rail. Visually, that's a great precursor to how the energybeam travels along the strip before it fires. In that light, it being more of a hack-job weapons testing platform wouldn't be that much of a stretch. Like, as if you'd take an Excelsior hull, and cut it off before the usual rounded bow as a means to make it all shorter? That way you have "logical" space where you can hack in a deflector and the mega phasers; no extra hull required.

Mega Phasers? Give it a shot see if it looks good to you. We're open to whatever you want to try, we have faith in you in designing ships.

I've always liked this design, but the Ortho wasn't that good.
For the phaser rails, maybe have 3 "turrets" on the rail, one in the middle, and 2 at the ends at the standard 12,3,9 o'clock positions for a "Default" and can move as needed? maybe?

Thanks bro...I am unsure how you mean... Could you elaborate?

Thanks! You might like what I opted here

Where's the asymmetry? I demand the asymmetry!!!

A good looking ship. Lots of phasers and hopefully a comfortable chair.
LOL...

Nice work! 10/10, would put in for a transfer to this vessel.
Thank you

YES!!! Wow, you work quickly. This is a fantastic look to the design, and quite possibly the most conventional work-up you’ve ever done (not a bad thing, mind you :)). Can’t wait to see the “hidden” views (if you do them).

No megaphasers please.

The original idea for the megaphaser was that it was rated at a million joules, which quickly got trashed, because we had no idea how much damage a million joules could really do. So it was rated at a million “somethings” that I think were purposely never defined, beyond being about ten times the rating of a turret.

So, it wasn’t just some hyperbole thing. It was supposed to have functional meaning. It was a cannon that could channel the power that would otherwise go unused unless multiple turrets were firing at once. The ship might have x amount of energy available for phasers, but the limit of a single turret might be a small fraction of that. The cannon expands that ability in one beam.

I meant it to very much distinguish between Reliant’s potential, and Enterprise’s. Reliant was the more powerful warship, but had inexperienced people running her.

I see. The top view made me think the nacelle support pylons were always wide and sliced into the secondary hull…where you fanned them out towards the nacelles.

Bad eyes
