Winter is coming! Game of Thrones has a teaser!

Apparently it aired in front of True Blood with a bunch of other HBO series promos. It is brief, very brief, but the Westerosi in me is bouncing off the walls.

I'm a skeptic when it comes to this, especially having read the pilot script, but they've certainly nailed the look and feel I was hoping for. No one is going to mistake this for Xena.

I can only hope my concerns with the writing and casting are 'fanboyism' run amok and I'll find a good series either way in the end.

Okay that still just sold me...I've been skeptic about the series, some of the casting though has intrigued me. I'll definitely check out the pilot and yes I agree that it seems like they captured the feel and look of the book. This could be better than Legend of the Seeker was.

Is it an all British cast?

It's fairly close to an all-British cast. The only main characters not being played by Brits are Jaime Lannister who's being played by someone from Denmark and then two Americans are in the cast as Peter Dinklage is playing Tyrion Lannister and Jason Momoa is playing Drago (although I'm not sure if filming Conan will interfere with that or not)

I think this will be on my list of things to watch (or buy if a normal channel doesn't show it over here).

Only read the first book so far, but I enjoyed that:)

It is a bbc coproduction and a mighty pricey one at that so international distribution will likely be used to cover the rest of the hefty pricetag. I don't know where you are but I imagine it will probably be airing on some channel or another that you will have access to within a year or so of the hbo airings.

Meh. The visual style is too drab for my tastes. Washing out colors / using filters just makes shit artificially depressing. If you can't convey the atmosphere you want to convey through things like the acting and set design, you've already failed.

I noticed that the color starts to wash out when Ned is saying Winter is coming. If you look at the picture at the website with a full Ned. The color reminds me somewhat of what Ridley Scott used on Gladiator. I think the color washing out thing was just a stylistic choice to make it seem darker then it is. Hopefully to get all the vamp fans excited.

Here's a pic of Sean Bean as Ned Stark:

Ah. I hadn't seen the fact that the Beeb were coproducing and was thinking it would probably go to one of the movie channels (Like The Pacific for example). If the Beeb have their hands in the mix, I reckon they should air it at some point and I can see it there. (I'm in the UK)

Ta:)

I just started reading the first book last night, after being told for years how good it is.

Three chapters in and it seems very well written. Also, these "Others" seem creepy as hell. Lots of names and houses and families, but I guess there are several books to deal with everything and flesh it all out.

I started last year and am halfway through book 2 and I find even though there are a lot of names and places, it's all easy to follow.
Like Star Trek or Star Wars..you don't often get confused with characters/places surprisingly.

Q: How does the show work? Is the whole first season just book 1?
