"Wink of an Eye." Wow. And I thought "Alternative Factor" had issues!

Just *how long* WAS Scotty at that transported door anyway?:guffaw:
What a mess. Y'know, in the hours the regular speed peeps had, MONTHS would have passed for Kirk & the Scalosians.

I have two words for this episode...

"Air Friction"

Well, who says months didn't pass for Kirk? He had plenty to do - and if the Queen was humanlike in more than just exterior bumps and crevices, he might have had to wait for several weeks anyway to catch the proper "launch window", as it were.

That, I guess, would be the true source of those insectlike voices they kept hearing: Scalosian movement rather than Scalosian speech.

Nah. Air Friction would be enough. Even if the natives were somehow super-resistant to it, Kirk would have burned up to a cinder just from the air friction caused by taking a breath.

Naah, phaser beams never travel at lightspeed. You can see them move even without Scalosian slo-mo. They are probably a bit slower than the average bullet, except when fired from a big starship gun, in which case they have no problem traveling at warp speed.

Nah, I've always loved this one. Best part: Kirk puttin' his boots back on... ;-)

This episode was full of weirdness. Lots of the problems could have been solved by having the Scalosians "trapped" between two universes, where they can exist in both but are unable to escape or interact with either. The "accelleration" bit just doesn't make any sense.

Luckily, the beautiful Kathie Brown and her Bill Theiss costume distracted me from the story.

The science in this episode makes no sense whatsoever, but it's still one of my favorites. (TNG's "The Next Phase" is just as bad but I like that one too.) The canted camera angles and slowed down background noises during the "accelerated" scenes gave the episode an interesting feel.

Yep. Bad OS Trek is still great TV!:techman:

I especially enjoyed when the camera was canted WHILE the change to/from acceleration was occurring.

I'd like to think that this episode gave the comic book writers for the Flash some ideas, frankly. Dodging the phaser, hearing different sounds, etc. etc.

Trek science rarely makes any sense. More akin to the 'science' of Lord of the Rings than the real stuff.

...I think "penultimate" should work just fine, too, however. In the sense of "Well, this is the last thing I get to do before they kill me, so what the hell, let's be sure history (or she at least) remembers me!"...
