Windtunnel 2008 - The TrekBBS Racing Season Thread

Goodyear brought the wrong tire again? What a shocker!

In other news, IndyCar and and Champ Car have announced that they are re-merging. This can only be a good thing for open wheel racing.

I can't wait... I'm taping the race while I'm away playing poker... Hopefully, they'll have it on the TV while I'm playing. And Jeff's in the top 5. Not good for everyone else...

Go Junior! Wish he could have passed Carl there at the end but second is nothing to complain about. Glad someone from HMS was able to finish in the top 5.

Oy gevalt.

As much as I like Carl, this win needs to be taken away. Roush Racing apparently needs yet another ego-smashing. At least when Hendrick cheats, they stretch the rulebook in a new and unique way instead of simply violating it.

Also, Robbie should not have been penalized for the nose incident. Absolutely not. But I've noticed that NASCAR has a nice little vendetta against him.

I think it's right. NASCAR never ever seems to overturn a win these days, but docking him 100 points is pretty much the same thing. It's also been the standard for Sprint Cup penalties these days.

I will say right now that if we were playing under the old rules, Carl would lose the Championship this year by a handful of points. But I doubt that he'll miss the Chase.

Oh, and Robbie Gordon still gets screwed. The points and suspensions were overturned, but the fine was increased to $150,000.

I have to admit that I've wondered from time to time what he's done to warrant this kind of scrutiny (Gordon)...

I think it's his other racing interests that have done this to him. He has never really put NASCAR to the top of his priorities. I think his penalties are a crock of BS!

Well, Toyota won yesterday and so far the Earth hasn't exploded, though Tony Stewart did at Goodyear.

I saw that and the first thing I thought was "What a crybaby." I shouldn't be surprised. It pretty much is Stewart's MO as a driver but I kind of wish he was classier than that. It's hard to like the guy (And I'm trying for some reason) with that shitty attitude. Maybe the reason I like him is because he is straight forward, but wow he is a crybaby.

I think he's just giving voice to a lot of complaints that drivers and fans have with how Goodyear has been doing of late. If I were Firestone, I'd get a design from a racing tire ready to go by the next time the contract comes up.
