Windows Vista - Service Pack 1

I bought a new wireless router today to connect my PS3 and Blackberry to the internet from within my home. I put in the setup CD for the router and it instantly bitches about me not having the right operating system. (Only accepting XP after SP 3, Windows 7, or Windows Vista post Service Pack 1.)

Imagine my surprise when near as I can tell through Windows Update no such thing is available to me! Seriously, the updates I have and the updates I still need to take care of make no mention of SP1.

I tried a manual set-up but I couldn't get the damn router to connect to the damn internet.

Any help and or suggestions would be appreciated.

This could simply be the standard answer that is given if the software fails to load. The real problem could be something else.

- Try manually downloading and reinstalling the service pack. Not using the update utility, which may have a malfunction. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bb738089

- Make sure that networking services have not been disabled
- Make sure you have admin/write access to whatever directories.
- Make sure you are not missing any binary dependencies for the router installer software. http://www.dependencywalker.com/

Near as I can tell everything is fine. When I run the set-up disc it tells me I need to have one of those operating systems and I could have sworn I already had SP1 of Vista.

When I tried to set-up the router manually (through the IP address) it wouldn't take. I'm still tinkering around with it, just trying to get some other ideas through here.

Well, I finally got Windows to get over itself and allow me to find and download SP2 so I should be good to go now.
