Windows 7 tech guarantee

For those of you who took advantage of the Tech Guarantee program when Vista was around, did you get a replacement full install CD or just an upgrade CD? And has there been any word of which we'll get with Windows 7?

I'm thinking about picking up my cheap tide-me-over $40 video card while Newegg has discounts on buying Vista & one of them. However, since Windows 7 upgrades cannot be installed on a bare system, I'll wait if I wouldn't get a real Windows 7 disc.

So Microsoft has done away with the compliance check where you just chuck the install media into the drive and it would then proceed on it's merry way?

Yes. Now the old OS has to be installed and activated.
