Windmills built along all Americ Coasts to make electricity

Re: Windmills built along all Americ Coasts to make electri

it would be no diffrent then off shore windmills. Honestly if its that big of an issue then the problem lies with unskilled ship handerlers

I could be completely off the mark on the design, but I ask because I'm envisioning a wave power generator here that's a string of, for lack of a better word, propellers that are turned by the waves as they come in, hence the question about shipping lanes.

Japan has invested some amount of time with this idea and it does not look promising.
Salt is the biggest problem which not only corrodes the structure but also acts like a sticky gum to the power shaft . Due to these problems it takes too much time in maintenance for it to become viable.

Except in VERY shallow water, wave energy is more up and down than horizontal. When the bottom of the wave reaches the shallow depths approaching a beach it's slowed, allowing the upper portion to overtake it and "break" forward.

The method used in Japan was to harness the vertical motion in form of air displacement.
The stationary platform had compartments where waves moving through will fill half way within the compartment and waterline will bob up and down forcing the air in the upper half rotate a wind mill.
The benefit of this method is that it can generate electricity regardlessly and will act as a breakwater for harbors. The down side is the constant maintenance necessary to keep the shaft and generator in working order.

You mean... the Japanese are developing the wave-motion engine?? Can the space battleship Yamato be far behind? :D

Talk about old school, I think you completely lost the audience not knowing in the world what you are talking about.
"Hado-ho Hassha! !"
