William Ware Theiss, TOS and women of 60s.

Remeber that Versace outfit J-Lo wore that caused such a stir? Looked like a WWT design to me, right down to the pattern in the fabric. Hold on a sec.

Yep. Here 'tis.

And to those of us singing the praise of full-figured women, Gilbert & Sullivan apparently felt the same way.

I really enjoy some good TOS episodes, and many of the women in TOS were very attractive, but Theiss was a pathetic hack in my opinion. Costume designer? WHAT COSTUMES

Indeed, my statement/query was poorly-written. What I mean is, the clothing that some of the women wore barely qualified as costumes, and often looked like little more than cut-up bedsheets or somesuch. I personally don't understand the appeal of the outfits. I think you can be more conservative than that but still sexy.

You're obviously unaware of William Ware Theiss' Theory of Titillation. Which states that the attractiveness of a person is directly porportional to the apparent likelyhood the clothes they are wearing is about to fall off.

You beat me to it. :techman:

There’s a blooper from Mudd’s Women of Maggie Thrett’s breast popping out of her dress. Unfortunately, the surviving film of the incident is of such poor quality that you can’t really see anything.

If the average guy finds a bony waif most attractive, so much the better. That'll keep their eyes off the real beauties. ;)

But yes, William Ware Theiss had an amazing eye for clothing design, especially for women. And although the female uniforms were a bit silly (c'mon, pantyhose isn't going to protect legs nearly as well as long pants), the civilian female costumes were usually quite stellar--especially considering the constrained budget.
Now, now Star Trek has something for every taste.
